I worked at Paul Mitchell full-time

    Pros

    Excellent for Education& Fun environment

    Cons

Some classes had to many students so in most cases it was hard for the student to have that one on one with the educator

    Advice to Management

    Less students or more educators

I have been working at Paul Mitchell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The majority of people are good people. There are rather flexible work hours, and the day to day isn't the bad as long as you ignore all the bigger issues.

    Cons

The people in charge do nothing to fix or change challenges and have major favoritism. There is no consistency and there is retaliation by mid level management if they catch wind of you not agreeing with them. People have been fired because they were not personally liked by management.

    Advice to Management

Separate personal with professional. People do not feel comfortable sharing challenges because of back lash and fear of being pushed out.

I worked at Paul Mitchell full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was awesome. Some of the staff are friendly. There is room to grow, and lots to learn.

    Cons

There is little to no training before your put on the floor as a learning leader, the staff and students act like they are in high school. They eat at their stations. Violate codes. The school would have been shut down if it was still operating in that manner. You are dictated by the students. Might as well not bother trying to teach.

    Advice to Management

I know you've cleaned it up. I do advise you listen to your staff over the children you have in your school. Maybe you need to reread your rules and regulations guide. Sometimes employees need help. It's in the clause.I have to say it's fantastic that it's running so much better.

I worked at Paul Mitchell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Positive, fun work environment. Fun to work with students. Everybody cares for each other. Good for people early in their professional careers. Travel for trainings.

    Cons

Low pay compared to most post-secondary schools. 2-3 weeks "summer/winter break" with no pay. No company contribution to 401k or health care. No maternity leave or short-term disability.

I worked at Paul Mitchell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Students are great. The pay is ok if you are a manager. They allow overtime. There's amazing guest speakers for the students that staff can also sit in on.

    Cons

The owner and director need to read the book written by Winn Claybaugh titled "Be Nice Or Else". Director is a micro manager that issues warning notices all the time for minor offenses.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone to run the place that knows what they are doing.

Paul Mitchell is a great company to work for, you are constantly learning new things about the industry and their culture is truly uplifting how much they give back.

    Cons

My personal cons about working here is not being able to do my own services which is why I got into this industry in the first place.

I have been working at Paul Mitchell full-time

    Pros

Provides HMO and PP Healthcare plans for employees in addition to providing profit sharing. The company is very relaxed and allows employees certain freedoms that are rare in other organizations.

    Cons

The company does not focus on culture. Does not provide dental or vision. PTO is very minimal. Expected to work long hours. Management does not illicit feedback from employees.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees and focus on the corporate culture. There is so much turnover happening within the company and no one seems to care about anything aside from cost cutting and profits.

    Cons

Work every other Saturday, hard to switch shifts because there was only one other person in my position that took opposite of my shifts.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work!! Thank you for my experience.
