I have been working at PayPal full-time

    Pros

    - Great Environment to work, and great coworkers
    - Working on latest technologies
    - Good benefits

    Cons

    - Lesser Growth Opportunities
    - Low Salary hikes, cannot compete with salaries structure of other bay area techs companies.
    - makes loose interest and reduce motivation

    Advice to Management

Annual 5% hike should be there for all employees and then increase per performances. Also, need growth opportunities for all employees working at PayPal.

I have been working at PayPal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work life imbalance, there is no work and only life.

    Cons

No work which means if you stay here for long you can't find another job, re-orgs is the only work management has. Only those in inner circle gets raise, bonus, stocks and rest can leave. Worst frontline managers, some of them are pure non-technical not even capable of finding any other job.

I have been working at PayPal full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

lots of potential in the future as a large payments company

    Cons

The technology sections of this company are a total mess. The platforms and infrastructure team are run by favoritism with zero regard for accountability. If you want to work for a place where no one will hold you accountable for your poor decisions and actions, start here.

    Advice to Management

Hire external managers and directors. Continually promoting from within means there wont ever be any new ideas.

I worked at PayPal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

For Austin the stock compensation is best in class ( RSU's and ESPP).
Benefits were good, PTO, and sabbatical, decent 401k, decent medical.
Nice office space with walking path, gym, lots of windows for light.
at the end PayPal was a great place to explore new technology and take it from idea into production.
Very solid support teams ( dev ops etc...).
There were a few tough and long nights dealing with releases or produciton issues, but the process improved to where releasing code was always smooth and quick.
Very thorough pre-testing of production releases.

    Cons

The biggest con was being in Austin. The original CEO was Scott Thompson who supported and championed the site. After 3 CEO changes there is no senior management at the Austin site and for the most part everything is controlled out of San Jose. I don't think the site will last much longer as the interest in Austin seems to be waning.

    Advice to Management

management seems to be stable at this point. Stay stable, consistent, and focus on your core mission and the company will succeed.

I worked at PayPal as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent company to work for. The leadership truly has a vision for where the company is headed. Developers and engineers are truly valued at PayPal.

    Cons

One of the key concerns with PayPal is the fact that there is a significant amount of red tape when it comes to development time. Ideally, tech companies are a lot more fluid when it comes to red tape but PayPal is definitely the exception.

    3. Lot of things happening on campus
    4. Company wants to keep the employee involved in events, activities, technical meetups

    Cons

    1. Promotion criteria significantly varies from team to team
    2. Extreme politics between teams and inside a given team
    3. Leadership quits several times
    4. Too many re orgs
    5. Growth may be subjective to team.

    Advice to Management

Try to reduce friction among teams. Try to reduce an overly politicized environment. Reduce the number of re orgs.Provide a clear growth plan for junior employees.
