Good job, great perks, hard work

    Pros

Amazing benefits, great coworkers, environment of growth. Focus on serving our users and doing the right thing.

    Cons

Huge workload. While work/life balance is encouraged by leadership, there is an endless amount of work to be done, and those who don't know how to draw the line and protect their time and health can find it very overwhelming.

    Love Fintech

    Pros

I like Fintech space given the variety of problems you get to solve compared to my experience in other fields (Retail etc)

    Cons

Work life balance is not the greatest. Need to be politically savvy to navigate through Managers more often than not do not provide adequate support Most of the leadership is invested in personal growth than team's growth

Hit or miss depending on team

    Pros

Stock appreciation Unlimited time off (that you can't use if your team is busy). Upper leadership is improving. A day off to rest every 3 weeks.

    Cons

Many managers are self-serving and will push people too much so they can look good. Work life balance can be inexistent. Not true diversity (teams of people matching their manager's identity) processes are heavy, and everyone needs to sign off for everything. Teams fight work instead of collaborating.

    Wonderful people, but absolutely exhausting

    Pros

PayPal's benefits and compensation attracts top talent. Many of my colleagues have been wonderful - collaborative, communicative, innovative. Collectively, we've been able to drive meaningful change and deliver innovative internal products.

    Cons

I've observed the organization to be highly political. Career advancement is near impossible. Most "promotions" for individual contributors come in the form of role name changes or added responsibilities. PayPal has many perks, but some have withered as the company has continued to mature. Our department is very much focused on farming out work, reducing the number of FTEs in favor of contractors and consultants. The hours can be incredibly long, and work-life balance almost non-existent. Myself and others consistently work 50-60 hour weeks in an attempt to stay ahead (or simply afloat).

    Pretty good company

    Pros

    - People are really nice. - Competitive salary and benefits - Teams are understanding that people have lives and that sometimes you need to go to a doctor and miss a meeting or something like that. - You don't need to clock-in and -out. As long as you are getting your job done they are not strict about the time.

    Cons

    - Some people have great work/life balance but some people have horrible one. You need to make your own boundaries. - Teams can have people from different timezones. You might have to attend a meeting at 7am and then at 9 or 10pm. - Decisions are pretty top-down.
