I worked at Payless ShoeSource part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you like sales, this is the job for you. The only thing I liked was doing the paperwork, and the ship to store.

    Cons

Measuring kids nasty, dirty, smelly feet was disgusting. I had to put so much pressure on people to buy shoes and other accessories. There's personal, store, and district sales goals for the day, week, and month. If you don't meet the goals then you get in trouble. You get on an action plan that you have to complete. Every person that walks in and out gets counted, so you have to sell to them. Or at least get their email. Most customers complain that the prices are too high, and they can get this or that cheaper somewhere else. My manager would to anything to meet the goals. On the conference calls they would call you out and ask why you didn't make goals.

    Advice to Management

Here's some advice for the whole company: get rid of the smiles system and focus on customer service instead of numbers.

  8. "A lot of work for little pay"

    Pros

Friendships made with co workers, employee discounts, getting paid weekly

    Cons

Short staffed, low pay for my amount of experience, no chance of advancement, working mostly 8 hours by yourself, drama, rude customers,

I worked at Payless ShoeSource part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Clean, lots of breaks and personal time, very rewarding to work with customers. Had good relationships with some of the co-workers.

    Cons

They went bankrupt and would not give me more then 9 hours a week. That's not even worth having a job. One of my co-workers threatened and harassed me.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more hours, let the sales associates work more freely its hard to sell when your manager is watching.

I have been working at Payless ShoeSource full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Paid holidays. Work with different styles of shoes. Men shoes go up to size 15. Woman shoes go up to 13. We actually have select styles in wide width available. Initiatives are awesome!

    Cons

I wouldn't say there's anything bad about working at payless. Although, the pay should definitely be better.
