    Cons

Franchise pearle vision is unprofessional. They want to overwork few employees to avoid hiring new people and keep pay roll low. No chance of calling off for emergencies because there arent enough employees to cover the shift. No benefits, no paid holidays or vacation. Dead end job.

    Pros

You'll make better than minimum wage and get benefits and some cool glasses

    Cons

Lots of nights and weekends. Management treats even 20 year licensed opticians like children. Forced to hard- sell lens treatments to some of the lower income customers in order to meet your goals. Always under-staffed. Since you suggest progressive lenses to Every multifocal prescription you get a lot of customers coming back to complain regarding non-adapt. Frequently having to calm down customers who were led in by misleading advertising. Hard to take vacation since they are usually under-staffed.

I have been working at Pearle Vision full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's an optical industry and you're helping people with their vision.

    Cons

The problem with such businesses is not the industry but vision insurance's and inexperienced opticians. If it wasn't for vision insurance i'd give this place maybe 4 stars. Vision insurance and the crap you have to deal with will suck the life out of you unless you like drama. If you like Spanish soap opera's and you want to live one then this is a great place for you.
Worst part about this industry in the recent years has been that they have been hiring more and more sales people but not enough real educated opticians. That's when the problems arise. You'll have a boss who used to manage McDonald's or Blockbuster video who has no idea how to properly select frames and lenses for patients and by that they dig their own hole and drag you down with them. Next thing you know you have patients coming back with various problems, from lenses being to thick or too thin for certain frames, wrong materials, wrong orders being created, taking too long to get glasses due to manager incompetence.
There are not many leaders in this company but there are a lot of managers.
Many of the managers are too childish, their requests along with rules and procedures seem more like from a high school type environment. If you like being treated like a child then this place is perfect for you, but if you're a grown responsible person then you can find better place to put your hours in exchange for a skimpy paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. Have more respect for your employees. Stop hiring useless people from a different industry and trying to transform them into opticians. Not everyone can be a great optician but everyone can learn how to make a sale under pressure.
Every year the numbers go up but you do nothing to increase traffic and increase pay. You rely on employees to get you customers while owners are acting like a bunch of politicians threatening to employees "if you don't do this or that you'll get fired". To top it off, lab equipment is horrible but you expect miracles to be performed on them.
I can keep going about this cause i've spent 15 years in Pearle Vision and i'm glad i'm out.
    Good bye suckers!

I worked at Pearle Vision full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At the time I worked there, great pay and commission, until Luxottica got their mits on the company and did away with a lot of the perks... Health insurance and pension were great...

    Cons

Not many Pearle Visions exist now due to Luxottica shutting them down... Hours got cut and so did the commission structure down to 0.5% a week from 3%. Upper management is very uncaring and expect their managers and staff to pressure customers into buying over-priced glasses that aren't even worth as much as they make them out to be... $305 for a polycarbonate basic progressive??? HIGHWAY ROBBERY!

    Advice to Management

Listen to your associates, you might learn more from them... Don't pressure your associates! And don't talk down to them if you want good results! Will never work for Luxottica EVER AGAIN!!! AWFUL CORPORATION and they own way too much!
