I worked at Pebble Beach part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Employee Dining Rooms
All other departments were a pleasure to work with
FOH positions were extremely thought out

    Cons

Production Department management was lacking experience
Management was not on par with other departments; everyone knew it

    Advice to Management

Specific to Production Services; treat your staff fairly. Staff can not be expected to work 100 hour weeks for less than entertainment union wages.

I worked at Pebble Beach full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great open door policy, free medical benefits, free food, flexible hours, they understand when you have an emergency, great managers, lots of awesome ppl to work with. Beautiful locations, free access to events, They respect your rights, great parking, Lots of opportunity for overtime

    Cons

low wages for California, long drive from anywhere, 30 minutes lunch for EVERYONE(I hate being rushed to eat), Deer aka Forest rats,

    Advice to Management

The senior staff have understood for years where the weakness in the company is, and how to fix them but no one has the you know what's to get up and do anything since it doesn't directly affect them. aka media. Open a freakin daycare center already, and have competitive wages. Your in California and you pay like your in Texas. You wouldn't have to give raises all the time and ppl would compete for better reviews if the wages were better, also build a program were people can privately address problems they have with co workers, with a manager outside their department, to allow outside mediation

I worked at Pebble Beach part-time

    Pros

Good benefits in a professional environment for learning and honing skills in your desired area of expertise. Hard to get fired.

    Cons

Many employees love to get in everyone else's business. Furthermore, they work part-time or on-call employees like they would for full-time, minus the benefits.

    Pros

Tons of benefits. Your lunch consists of actual resort style meals. Everyday.

    Cons

Much older workforce. The youngest age you may find is about 30. The oldest being 75. Everyone got their job when they were in high school and have stayed in those positions ever since. This also means that there are less available jobs being offered at any given time.

    Advice to Management

Open up new positions. Give your workforce some young life and update decades old computer systems

I worked at Pebble Beach full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of company perks such as free golf, complimentary employee dining, discounts at resort restaurants and retail stores, great health benefits and 401k plan plus company health center, chances to attend world class events at PB throughout the year, holiday party, amazing coworkers, and of course a beautiful location to work!

    Cons

None really come to mind other than the company is very traditional in their way of doing things. So, if that's not something that intrigues you about a company, this probably isn't the best fit for you.

    Advice to Management

Be open to new ideas. Change is good sometimes!

I worked at Pebble Beach part-time

    Pros

The employees at Pebble Beach were overwhelmingly driven, committed and conscientious individuals. It was a pleasure to work with the staff and managers who took pride in their work.
There were great benefits including free golf.

    Cons

The upper management who had been there for many years seemed to be there only because they had been there forever, when hourly employees jobs were cut due to budgetary issues, it was based on seniority and performance, but it didn't appear the same standards were applied across the company.

    Pros

Some of the decorum standards are designed to create a friendly work atmosphere. My favorite of the "P.B. STANDARDS" is B: Basic rule 15-10-5, which states, when passing guests and/or fellow employees (even in the back hallways) ...at 15 feet you make eye contact, at 10 feet smile, and at 5 feet say hi.

    Cons

Management follows the tenant that employees are the most expensive part of running the resort and that if their time isn't being billed for they should go home. They follow the letter of the federal and state laws by operating that there are NO minimums in regard to hourly employees weekly hours, and yet stipulate that a certain amount of hours be worked in a given period to maintain benefits. So, many 'full-time' employees end up applying vacation hours to the weeks when they aren't being scheduled, just to maintain benefits.

    Advice to Management

Let employees use some of their benefits before their ONE YEAR anniversary date. to have a 'full-time' employee fail to meet hourly requirements to maintain benefits by not allowing them to apply vacation hours to supplement during slow periods seems immoral. Also, some departments should schedule maintenance during the slower periods and schedule staff to fix/repair gear, rather than 'save on labor' and then have to buy new equipment later.
