I have been working at Pen Bay Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have met some wonderful and caring people here, and have learned a lot

    Cons

Favoritism, inexperienced and overextended mid-level management making staffing/workload decisions that don't make practical sense

    Advice to Management

Avoid favoritism and age discrimination at all costs...to do otherwise will result in massive turnover within your departments, unless that's what you want. Veteran staff is invaluable to this organization, and is the real driving force behind getting things accomplished.

    Pros

The employees care deeply about their patients, which makes working here feel like you are directly impacting the health of the community. I worked with some really incredible professionals, a true community hospital in the best sense.

    Cons

I worked here for three years and there were three different CEO's in that time. I think it could be said that the quality of the leadership went from good to horrible. The current CEO lacks transparency and to be honest, a personality, which made the employees very uneasy about the direction of the organization and the security of their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Pen Bay could benefit from a strong leader with a clear vision and voice who can instill confidence and enthusiasm among the employees.

It is less demanding than most other hospitals. Flexibility of work hours awarded in most cases. Working with staff is pleasant most of the time.

Lack of staff at times. Patients can be difficult at times and takes a toll on your work load. Medical supplies not well organized in Supply room.
