I have been working at Penfolds Roofing full-time

    Pros

-In my experience at the company there has been a huge amount of autonomy. I have not been micro managed or had to spend time with reporting any progress or job tasks. - Decent earning potential once you're up to speed with your sales pipeline. With new employees they make a good effort to support you until you get there, although you definitely want to make it past the "training salary" as soon as possible. - Good...

    Cons

    - Some of the company processes between the sales and job production are difficult to maneuver. As Penfolds takes estimators on without any prior experience it can be difficult to price jobs correctly/ notice all nuances that experienced pros might. This can lead to budget overruns and problems during the production of jobs sold. - At more advanced levels there is a lack of technical training to be able to troubleshoot...

    Advice to Management

    - Invest in further training for employees to gain relative job skills - Show appreciation to employees who are doing well but not yet top sales performers

I have been working at Penfolds Roofing full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company to work for. Good work environment.

    Cons

The company needs to invest in more office workers in some departments, they are lagging behind in some aspects. Also they vehicles that some departments use are old and dying. We recently had several break downs and had to scramble to find another vehicle to use while the other van is in the shop. I suggested to slowly phase out the old vehicles with the new as they break down.

    Advice to Management

Need more office workers to help out.

I worked at Penfolds Roofing full-time

    Pros

Employees doing the actual roofing work are phenomenal as well as office staff. Roof quality is of the best in the lower mainland

    Cons

Unstable employment. Unfair favoritism. Lots of finger pointing instead of focusing efforts on resolutions. Pockets of certain people are lined heavily resulting in expensive roofs which are harder to sell for the sales, under paid office staff, high turnover rate. Management guiding the company is VERY near sighted, unprofessional and quite ignorant of internal processes and concerns. Employment standards, labor relations...

    Advice to Management

Realize that accountability has to start from the beginning - those who sell the roof. Realize that instead laying off, using inexperienced office staff and treating them poorly you may want to hire professionals, train the existing ones better and you'll reap the benefits of long term employees. Casting them aside when the company isn't doing well or the weather isn't cooperating isn't the way to keep good people around....
