I worked at Penn State Abington as a contractor

    Pros

I had the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant for Dr. Ann Schmiedekamp for a Radio Astronomy project that was done for a whole year. I did not get pay but received credits. It allowed me to put scientific knowledge into place.

    Cons

You have to work really hard. This is not an easy organization to belong to but it will teach you a lot and that is all that matters

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Penn State Abington as an intern

    Pros

The community is amazing. As a small campus, it is easy to get to know the rest of the staff. Everyone knows each other, so networking is pretty easy, especially given the diverse backgrounds and emphasis on diversity in the workplace.

    Cons

Small branches can be a bit unorganized as the technology and facilities do not compare to the main campus. Top level management is remote, making it difficult to address certain issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Feel free to challenge your student workers. They are hard working and motivated individuals, and it would be a shame to see students waste their potential.

Great community of people. Very relaxed working environment. People are very friendly.

    Cons

Overall lack of accountability among faculty and staff. Some employees like to pass the buck to other individuals and departments.
