I worked at Pennington Biomedical Research Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunity to learn what it takes to complete a medical research study. Opportunities to work independently and with small groups. Fair amount of friendly people that work here.

    Cons

When working in conjunction with other departments, communication breakdowns can make work very strenuous. This is largely due to politics. LSU's budget cuts affects who stays and who goes. Very limited mobility in this company.

    Advice to Management

Need people with common sense and people that know how to relate to people. Book knowledge, science, isn't all you need to manage a research center.
