I worked at Pennoni full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Supportive management, gave a fair bit of autonomy and flexibility and generally a friendly environment. Less feeling of deadline pressures than I had at other engineering firms.

    Cons

A bit top heavy, with limited opportunities to advance beyond a certain point. Also, there were definite variances in culture and approach from one office to the next.

I have been working at Pennoni full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Young employee empowerment, lots of project variability so things are not boring, group of great communicator / engineer leaders to learn from, support to out of office networking events, every innovative so there's not much disruption fear :)

    Cons

ESOP program but no 401k match, could emphasize more about the "why" of the company, what our impact is int he world, how we hope to change the world in a positive way.

I worked at Pennoni full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was told this would be a good place to learn and it was. Different projects, good coworkers. But don't invest too much time. It isn't appreciated.

    Cons

Stay for 2 years (more if you like who you report to and you're still learning), learn all you can and then move on because it's hard to move up, and to what? Division manager is the hardest, most thankless job there is.

    Advice to Management

Put your money where your mouth is. You may have a stellar reputation with clients, but that is all built on the backs of your employees. Companies get a reputation for high turnover.

I have been working at Pennoni full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Great benefits
    -Casual workplace environment
    -Good co-workers

    Cons

    -Below average salaries
    -Hefty amounts of overtime
    -Little room for advancement

    Advice to Management

Invest in your junior staff and help them grow and advance in the company. It's no wonder employees keep leaving and turnover rates are high. Take care of your employees and stop cutting cost of employing more staff by making current personal work 60+ hrs.

I have been working at Pennoni full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Employee Stock Ownership Program, Vacation buy/sell program, and benefits.

    Cons

No 401k contribution. Top heavy company structure - it's hard to see myself ever making it further than project manager. The executives are firmly entrenched in their positions and many are far from retirement.

I have been working at Pennoni full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with. The management are easy going people that understand work life and personal life balance.

    Cons

Not spending enough on technological upgrades. Some computers are roughly a decade old and should have been replaced years ago.

    Pros

You receive a lot of hands on experience. The office tries to be as "family" as possible and is open to situations, as long as you complete your work. When its busy...its very busy.

    Cons

Very top heavy. Sometimes they are not very thorough when they hire new people. There is a lack of mid-level employees and it shows as the average age is young. Very little in raises.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Great work environment in which you can balance work and family life.

    Cons

I don't have any cons of working there. Left for personal reasons.

    Advice to Management

Management was great too, great communication between higher management and employees.

I have been working at Pennoni full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The larger offices have a fun young core that you will work. You get paid for overtime. There are a variety of different projects that you can work on to expand your engineering knowledge on. Starting to incorporate company standards.

    Cons

There is no clear direction from management. There have been numerous attempts to create a better communication between management and the employees, but it seems more like a reactionary response to simmer the complaints. Very little mentoring and lunch and learn sessions. Client relationship is not that best. There is a mentality of lets just get the plans done and approved rather trying to find the best solution for the client. The atmosphere does not make you want to do your best work.

As a result there is high turnover in the company.
