What are your colleagues talking about?
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Most negative reviews are from years ago, before PBI leadership changed and put an updated business model in place. Great staff, opportunities to develop skills and learn new things, competitive benefits, employees able to weigh in and influence direction of business, PBI cares genuinely about taking care of customers, top quality products
Cons
Sometimes still a bit slow to move, but getting better. Things are changing quickly so staff must be comfortable with that environment and willing to learn new things, adapt.

Pros
There are some great people who work at PBI who care about their fellow employees. The benefits are pretty good: paid vacations, sick days, holidays, a health care plan that's not too expensive.
Cons
The pay is poor for everyone except the lawyers and people who have been there forever. Instead of pay raises based on your personal performance, they sometimes give raises to everyone. But they keep losing customers so no raises in 2015. The lawyers make all the decisions, some of them disastrous. No matter how much experience you had at other companies, no matter how much you know, what you do, if you are not an attorney, you are going nowhere and you can't change it. They may sometimes ask for input but they don't value your opinion, they are just going through the motions. There is so much wrong with this place.

Steady work with growth potential

Job retention is high at this self-sustaining nonprofit. There's an old-fashioned pension, and an under-recognized visionary behind HR. If you have a major health crisis, the institution will help you because it cares. Can't say that for many workplaces, anymore.
Cons
Despite efforts to the contrary, there is a strong sense of hierarchy that can't be broken. Change comes very slowly, and certain personalities are highly demanding or trying. The location in Central PA is difficult to live in, for folks coming from Pittsburgh or Philadelphia.

Ideal Student Employer

Great pay and conditions, flexible hours, lovely team and understanding management.
Cons
The only thing I can think of is that you have to be a UCL orIoE student to work here - so I can't keep the job after I graduate!
