Hiring & Onboarding Experience
Dec 16, 2022 - Business Development ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Penta's hiring process was wildly efficient and was obvious they know what they're doing. After two interviews with senior management, they were very transparent about the role, company culture, and where they are with respect to strengths, weaknesses, and ability to serve their market. I felt confident they instilled confidence in the direction of the company without a bunch of fluff and how this role coincides with where they are headed. Post interview(s), they made a timely, competitive offer right away and the onboarding experience was outstanding and very fast! Every person was very helpful and responsive to get me up and going. As a virtual first company, I received all of my equipment and credentials before my start date along with a welcome package that included two books. What's notable is those books also reinforced the culture they strive to maintain and investment in development and uniformity. Day one had great follow up from leaders and it was apparent this was a motivated, results driven company who rejects mediocrity. I was treated as though I added value and was on team calls from day one giving input and expected to hit the ground running. Overall - benefits are great. Leadership is accessible and keeps it real. The people were welcoming and you're expected to communicate directly and frequently. These are all a win.
Cons
The one thing I'd say thus far is the number of places information is stored. I'm not sure I'd say this is a con necessarily, but something to adjust to in an effort to stay organized. There are a ton of good tools and resources, however, there may be an opportunity to streamline data storage. Also - I was told a few weeks in that there were some really good cookies that were supposed to arrive prior to my start date along with the welcome package. They didn't make it, but all is still well in the [Penta] world.

Pros
Excellent work-life balance and management really seems to care about the employees. They trust you to do your work and do not micro-manage. It's a great place to be employed if you are hard-working and driven because management will recognize that and value your effort. They have a ‘bottom-up’ org structure which provides transparency throughout the company and employees have more ownership to share ideas, which they are encouraged to do so.
Cons
100% remote which sometimes can be challenging if you need face-to-face daily interactions.
- Current Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Attracts and retains top talent in a remote setting. Peers are high performing and committed to the products they build. Great place to grow as a professional.
Cons
Not somewhere you should work if you are looking to hide or have an easy remote job. Everyone gives out professional, constructive feedback - if you don't like to grow or take feedback well, is may be a tough culture.

Excellent Culture of Improving
Jan 24, 2022 - Development Team Member in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Takes product and operations improvements seriously. Well focused on the construction industry. Very transparent and takes better care of their employees than should be expected.
Cons
Not a huge company so not easy to find an expert internally on all subject matters, but company also supplements with consultants where needed to make up for this.

Penta is an incredible place to work!
Sep 19, 2020 - Senior Development EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
"Own It" Culture: Penta embraces a culture in which every employee is responsible and expected to deliver value that directly benefits the business. Value-Focused: Penta truly lives out their corporate values (Ownership Attitude, Courageous, Growth Mindset, Partnership, Respect). High Standards: Penta's employees hold each other to high standards, which drives both personal and professional development on a daily basis. Top-Down Transparency: Penta understands the importance of openly sharing information and holding one another accountable at all levels. The executives all have an open door policy and information is never withheld from the employees (unless an NDA is in place). Team Player Mindset: There is no question that every employee at Penta is a team player. The company made me feel welcomed and valuable, even before my first day of employment with them! The employees always look out for the best interest of one another and there is never a question that you have the support you need to be successful. Invested in Employee Growth: Penta dedicates the time and resources necessary to fully understand the career goals of every employee. They also provide the resources and opportunities to achieve those goals. Personal Reflections: I initially had some hesitation coming to Penta, as I greatly enjoyed the Software Engineer position I had with my previous employer. However, after just one week of working at the company, I was 100% certain that I had made the right decision. I love coming to work every day with Penta and highly recommend the company to anyone who is looking to own their professional responsibilities and development goals!
Cons
Penta does not have any cons.

Progressive, Agile company, start-up culture with stable financials
Sep 8, 2021 - Chief Operating Officer in Sussex, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Open, honest leadership. Great people. Zero politics. Mission driven.
Cons
Not the place to work if you want to be told what to do. If you are a programmer that wants to write code without purpose or value work for a big company. This is the place to work for a career not just a job.

Pros

Back stabbing and do not trust

Excellent company heading in the right direction dealing with a massive transition to Agile Scrum
Feb 1, 2021 - Dev Team Member in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Full transparency top to bottom. Never a dull day with repetitive tasks. Lots of room to grow and learn. Great benefits and full time work remote. Excellent handling of the pandemic and as a company they really prove they care about the employees.
Cons
Still working on figuring out how to best involve scrum with our product and what the right mix of people and skills are to meet our goals.
