I worked at Pentair full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers who work hard and care about one another. Had a lot of freedom's as long as job got done timely.

    Cons

Perception was that management looked down on designers. Saw as more of a replaceable work horse. Management never invested much time or money into training engineering team as compared to lavish trips for sales team. Horrible pay. Company seems to have philosophy of trying to pay as little as they can get away with, in a deceptive manner, instead of what the job is really worth. Management take about win right, but when sales are down that seems to go out window.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees and your business will soar on its own. Without these hard working people, the company wouldnt go anywhere. Make them feel valuable and appreciated. A person shouldn't have to dread going to work every morning and get sick

I have been working at Pentair full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nicely designed water bottles giveaways for trade shows

    Cons

    1. Culture of cost cutting and cost-out
    2. Layoffs every quarter
    3. No innovation
    4. SubPar sales organizations
    5. Vice Presidents and Directors galore none of which add any value to the Organization or for Investors
    6. Obsolete and technologically stale products

    Advice to Management

The Board needs to do a complete change out of Senior Leadership. The company has lost billions in failed acquisitions and is unable to create new products. Constant restructuring is a tactic to deceive investors and hide the millions in losses every quarter.

    Pros

A few good team leads makes the job site (Motiva) somewhat bearable.

    Cons

Some of the management are totally disrespectful and out of line with their comments. Aggressive and discriminatory language used in front of Motiva reps.

    Advice to Management

    Hire competent management...NOT your buddies

I have been working at Pentair (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some really good, unused talent out on the floor. People that truly care about the company and the product.

    Cons

No one listens to the people actually doing the work.
Management is a joke. They continually put one shift against another. There is no team. There is no "standard work" because each shift is run differently.
Workers are often mistreated and ignored. Injuries are high due to "trimming the fat". Production is more important than human life.
Human Resources are not available to the off shifts and are often not even on campus for days at a time.

    Advice to Management

Realize that your office people are more easily replaced than the knowledge you have out on the floor. The people making your product have all the experience and knowledge. Treat them with more respect, pay them higher wages and listen to them when they have ideas and you will get a lot further. Until you do there will continue to be a high turnover rate of employees leaving for employers who appreciate them.

I worked at Pentair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, decent pay, diverse company, most coworkers were helpful and friendly.

    Cons

Very poor management, obvious favoritism, "open door policy" is a joke, management preaches values but does not follow them.

    Advice to Management

Company needs to reevaluation who they have placed in management positions. Learning the concept of, "take care of your employees and they will take care of you" is strongly advised.

    Pros

The company offers good benefits like health care , 401k and a wellness program. Some of their products are good but support is hard to find.

    Cons

A lot of the talented people that were with Tyco before the merge with Pentair left for other valve companies. Finding people who can answer technical questions is a rare event.

    Cons
