I worked at Pentair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Convenience for the career path I wanted to take

    Cons

The pay is too low for the work load expected of you. The lack of leadership and communication leaves constant rumors and fear hanging over you every day of work. Being taken advantage of for your great work ethic and experience and being shown zero acknowledgment or career level progress for that will really get to you.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who deserve to be managers and know how to empower their employees!

I have been working at Pentair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay, insurance, and benefits

    Cons

If you are on the floor, you are second rate and management makes sure you know it.

    Advice to Management

Get out if your own way

I worked at Pentair full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay & benefits are great

    Cons

There is little to no training, horrible communication among departments or within your own. I actually never worked with a worse IT Dept, no support at all and could take weeks to get programming you need to perform your duties.
No one seems to know what they are responsible for or how to respond.

    Advice to Management

take the time to get everyone on the same system and train properly. let individuals know during the interview what is expected, such as working weekends, holidays, etc...
train your people and you could have force to reckon with but at this rate you will lose some really good people

    I worked at Pentair full-time

    Pros

They have Good benefits and knowledgeable people outside of the Houston area

    Cons

Poor training, poor management, poor supervisors, no work/life balance, wanting employees to work from home on weekends. They play favorites, instead of people who do work.

    Advice to Management

Change the "Management/Supervision" in the Sales Department, this will help employees and the new Emerson company grow.

I worked at Pentair full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dynamic and ever changing environment that keeps you busy.

    Cons

Very focused on the bottom line and not on employee satisfaction. Cost pressures constantly reducing work force to the point where staff are overworked and underpaid with respect to the market.

    Advice to Management

Your employees make or break the company. You need to cater to them just as much or more than your stock holders.

I worked at Pentair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Many resources to gain engineering and project management skills
-Gained mechanical and electrical product design experience and insight as a student
    -Relatively friendly atmosphere

    Cons

-I was offered a full time position a year in advance and the offer was rescinded with very short notice to start date
-Was very upfront with management and lost work opportunities twice due to the poor planning skills of my immediate managers/HR

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to communicate more effectively with the respective business units; there seems to be a divide here.

I worked at Pentair full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of good people. Hard workers in production.

    Cons

Too much management by threats to increase productivity "or else", but little to no help to do so. Typical overabundance of management and very few people producing the product.
