Great resources from its parent company, HOYA, but allowed the freedom to align with the local market. Fantastic products and really smart, hardworking people. Great to be at an essential service company during a pandemic. Well established brand.

Cons

Since it is so well established, it can take some time to understand how the company operates. Medical device is also a highly regulated industry so everything has to be auditable and reportable.

Co-workers are nice and helpful, holidays off, a start to open doors to a better job opportunity outside of here, fair pay.

Current HR management does whatever she wants, she is not for the employees. Even if you try to reason with them logically, professionally, NOPE! It’s their way and they will try to act as if you have a say, but you don’t. She answers questions while still not answering them, as if we are dumb children. Pentax went from a compassionate and understanding HR Team to an old fashioned one. So many problems with not enough resources or people. They still expect you to solve everything even if it’s manually. Some employees get non-earned promotions, don’t qualify for them.

The best thing about Pentax was my co-workers. We were all there for each other through the good and the bad.

The worst thing about Pentax was leadership and turnover. It seemed like weekly a rep was gone and a new one starter. Poor culture drove down morale.

Micro managed you, surveillance by IT & others, manager is awful & HR does whatever she wants, no provided anyone with raises but sales team receives bonuses & mind you every year they have an over the top luxurious holiday party but no raises or bonuses for those that do all the heavy lifting, only room for movement is by transferring out of the dept (if you can, and don’t count on the CS manager who doesn’t need to work for a living to have your back. Trust no one & be nice to all and you should be ok.

When I first joined the company, Pentax had great products, a collaborative/innovative culture and strong momentum in gaining marketshare

new product development cycle is extremely slow and lacks any end-user feedback, constant rotation of leadership, no strategy for securing GPO contracts

Pentax used to be a fun place to work.

New leadership is misogynistic and cut throat. The only talented and engaged employees there have left or are looking to leave. The work piles on to others and they burn out. Complaints made in good faith are used against you and it is evident leadership is protected, but employees are not.
