    Pros

Great people in every direction, family feel. Everyone at this company treats you like you are a good friend, always offering to help if you need, or being understanding if life outside of work is getting to you.

    Cons

Management is extremely indirect, which is very unhelpful if issues arise.
Not a great place to learn and grow, since management is too busy to assist you. The struggle of a growing company.

    Advice to Management

If an employee is not doing the job as well as you'd like, it is best to offer constructive criticism, not just shy away as they don't perform well and don't learn to do better.

    Pros

Some departments still look out for their employees making the prevalent work politics slightly more bearable.

Benefits are great, location beautiful, fun company events, and onsite Mexican food.

    Cons

Unfair promotions and raises. The 'family oriented, no bull$#!(" culture is quite the opposite...political undertones, crafty manipulations, nepotistic favoritism, the list goes on. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Many careers will simply stagnate if you aren't drinking the corporate Kool aide or you happen to irritate the wrong Favorite.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preech and treat others as you wish to be treated. Empathy creates so much more success.

    I worked at Penumbra full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and location is nice and there plenty of parking and water near by, Nice view during lunch and to walk around area is kinda hidden.

    Cons

Legal sweat shop 90% of people cant speak English so it makes it hard to communicate, Not only that they hire people with no experience so they don't have to pay them a lot to do a lot of hard work. Everything is about who you know to move up in the company to move up in great positions.

    Pros

They make a great product, and overall, it is a great company. The management's main focus is on your work performance rather than what you wear. This fosters a very comfortable environment for the employees.

    Cons

The corporate politics is alive and well. If the wrong person isn't a fan, they can make work life miserable. I saw this happen with several people

    Advice to Management

Lose the micro-management culture. And if the staff is getting the work done effectively, and efficiently, don't interfere.

    Pros

Growth and opportunity abound here for talented individuals with aptitude and motivation. The business is on a mission to aggressively address unmet clinical needs. That means the right person can get exposure to a lot of new products and technologies in a short period of time.

    Cons

If you are lazy, strive to be mediocre or don't play well in the sandbox with others, you will not last long here.

    Advice to Management

Keep driving innovation and sharing success stories with the folks at all levels of the business.

    Pros

Get to work mostly independently, great for introverts, the work is very simple, music is allowed, GMP experience

    Cons

High level of politics and maneuvering for such a simple job. Culture on the floor reminds me of middle school, with it's petty politics and "in"/"out" groups. Some grown adults act like children. Low level harassment between builders observed on a daily basis. Lacking in a culture of direct communication and conflict resolution. Hard to resolve problems with people with bad English skills.

Sickness spreads easily on the production floor. Good clean room practices are not enforced. Very bureaucratic and impersonal company structure/interview process.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in ESL classes to help communication, audit long-time employees, try to reduce the petty politics on the production line

    I worked at Penumbra full-time

    Pros

    Lots of young employees
Easy to make some good friends
    25cent sodas
Sometimes there are leftovers of food

    Cons

    Poor management
    Lots of Nepotism
Hard to get a raise or promotion even when you work really hard.
    Unrealistic and unclear expectations

    Advice to Management

Take a look in the mirror and realize that management needs improvement. They seem to not take fault for an employee "not performing to standards" that were never defined. Make up your mind. If people don't start to be reward for real achievements and paid fairly, people are going to start to leave. Its already happening.

I have been working at Penumbra full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good learning experience
    - had opportunity to juggle multiple roles and projects
    - mostly young company

    Cons

    - promotions are not always deserved, some are definitely not merited
    - inefficient when handling large project, wasting long hours focusing on irrelevant details instead of the main issues. The result is everyone is overworked and underpaid.
    - poor leadership and management style. Only one person makes the decisions. Reviews do not account for much if you get on their bad side.
