I have been working at People Inc. (NY) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Very flexible schedule (we get to make our own) - Lots of independence - Great for if you are a self-starter and very organized - Helping individuals to get and keep a job can be very rewarding - Helpful supervisors - Good paid time off and insurance - Occasional bonuses (although they have dropped off recently) - Best for if you are just starting a career or if you require a flexible schedule

    Cons

    - The main "con" is the VERY low pay (some of my clients at fast-food restaurants make more than me). I have a Bachelor's degree and make $14/hour. - Increased oversight/regulation and loss of some independence in recent years - Not as rewarding as I thought it would be - Not much room for advancement unless you get lucky and one of a few supervisor positions opens up.

I have been working at People Inc. (NY) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

PTO, Health/Dental/Vision benefits. Senior Program Manager's are very personable. Monthly gas card drawings provided at monthly staff meetings.

    Cons

They expect a single parent to be flexible with their availability meaning working evenings and weekends. PTO needs to be requested two wks. in advance and is declined if two staff in the department are already off that day. The PTO needs to be submitted in person at office because it is not set up electronically. You need to have a reliable vehicle and expect to do a ton of driving because of driving to each individual's home and possibly taking them on errands. The senior program managers criticize more than provide praise and helpful tips for staff's creativity.
