Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Pros

PeopleMatter got off to a good start by helping businesses deal with the rush of applicants during the great-recession. They had effective technologies to help identify the good applicants based on quick assessments, run background checks and get them on-boarded. They're located in downtown Charleston which is a fun town.

    Cons

They made investments in the wrong areas of the product and sales were impacted. Ultimately their investors wanted to salvage their investments and sold the business.

    Pros

PeopleMatter has some highly successful and talented employees, Being down on King Street in charleston can lead to the fun of working at this fast paced company. They have listed perks like unlimited vacation, free healthcare and a relaxed dress code which are all enjoyable.

    Cons

The leadership is a mess, the CEO has been replaced, and sadly during the process all of the good hard working caring executives left the company and they ones that have lead a negative culture stayed on.. and even received a promotion. At PeopleMatter they are concerned about sales and sales only, The sales team is pressured to close deals that are bad for the customer and PeopleMatter and the Customer Success team is more focused on revenue and upsales than they are about keeping customers and reducing churn, lots of large customers have left in the last 18 months and they show no sign of returning.
