    Pros

Peoples Bank is a community bank in the true sense of the word. Huge effort is made to make a difference in the local communities, in terms of dollars and volunteer efforts. Also, there is a great company culture, everyone is nice and committed to making the Bank successful.

    Cons

As it is a small bank, not as many opportunities to expand role (unless you are a branch employee). That being said, be ready in case an opportunity pops up, as there are a lot of banks out there and management may switch roles, creating an unexpected opportunity.

I worked at Peoples Bancorp (OH) full-time

    Pros

Not much once you figure out they aren't any better than a regional or national bank.

    Cons

Terrible service. Over promises - under delivers. Lot's of hurdles, redundancy, cheap on technology and tools.

    Advice to Management

Quit BS'g everyone. Only fools buy it!

I worked at Peoples Bancorp (OH) full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay is decent - neither the worst nor the best in the area.

    Cons

There are so many things wrong with the way this company treats their employees. There is a lot of drama, favoritism, and unrealistic sales goals. They claim to have a "coaching" atmosphere where you can coach anyone in the company on what they're doing well and what they can do better at. But the reality is that it's just a way to criticize your fellow coworkers and score points with management. It was enforced coaching,...

    Advice to Management

Better training, better management, and better pay are all needed. Company culture could use a revamp too.

I have been working at Peoples Bancorp (OH) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company can be flexible at certain times. Company culture on the bank side seems pleasant and inclusive. Coworkers are nice and go out of their way to help out.

    Cons

Upward mobility can easily stall in the wrong areas. Management promises one thing and often doesn't follow through. The company often has a problem bringing the insurance division and the bank side together, they feel like different companies.

I worked at Peoples Bancorp (OH)

    Pros

Competitive pay in similar banking job market. Access to benefits.

    Cons

High-pressure goals; responsibility for others' performance, harsh competitive (not in a progressive way!) office culture, job roles are not clearly defined during interview process and become misleading, broken promises, high turn-over rate, understaffing, emphasis on corporate image instead of family/community values.

    Advice to Management

Create realistic challenging sales and performance goals, not goals that set employees up for failure from the start. Do not use scare tactics to bully supervisors or customer service associates. (This occurred many times). Reevaluate methods for hiring and firing; both processes are ineffective.

  10. "Great Co-Workers and Manager"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Former Employee - Assistant Manager

I worked at Peoples Bancorp (OH) full-time

      Pros

The managers really try to foster the team feeling. My co-workers were all great and easy to get along with. They were really the only reason I stayed with the company so long.

      Cons

Difficulty negotiating (and earning) worthwhile pay raises and establishing upward mobility. The sales environment and structure here is exhausting - for a relatively small, regional bank, it felt very big bank regarding customer relationships. Also, the employee incentives for CSRs and Personal Bankers are a joke, its no wonder why increasing sales and referrals while boosting and maintaining morale was difficult.
