I worked at Peoria Chiefs for less than a year

    Pros

Great experience Meet a lot of people Paid internship

    Cons

Petty work environment VERY long hours that they don't explain to you fully in the beginning A lot of sitting around

    Advice to Management

Make this more of the experience that it should be for interns. It could be a really great gig if the boss had been better.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Peoria Chiefs part-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you love baseball, you get to be around it and others who love it. You also get a 20% discount on anything. The manager is super chill, and the work is usually pretty easy. Most people are pretty nice, and meeting any rare sales goals is rewarded it never punished.

    Cons

You have to be on your feet for five hours at a time. Sometimes games are dead and you get cut early. Because the games are scattered about, so are your shifts. With 4-5 employees in the store, you can expect 4-7 shifts per month, which is anywhere from 16-35 hours.

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Peoria Chiefs

    Pros

The company relies heavily on its interns to keep the promotional activities going. management really tries to keep morale up and encourage a work hard/play hard environment. The staff is amazing and it's a great opportunity to come out of your shell, make new connections, and learn a ton. I made life long friends during my internship.

    Cons

Long hours. Intern level compensation could be higher for the amount of hours worked

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Peoria Chiefs full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great chance to start career in sports. Fun environment and a chance to gain experience in a lot of areas. Chance to be creative at work. Career opportunities exist through networking with people you interact with at ballpark.

    Cons

Work-life balance will prevent company from growing properly. It is not uncommon for full-time employees to work 20+ days in a row in season while averaging 12-15 hours. Pay is okay for entry level, but benefits are non-existent. Pay on an hourly basis is horrible. Average turnover is around 1 year. Long hours breeds negativity in the workplace. Emphasis is placed too much on procedures and not results.

    Advice to Management

Proactive time-off policies will promote company growth. Overworked employees will be more effective by having an occasional day off. "It's part of the job" is not an acceptable answer as to why employees are burnt out.
