I worked at Pep Boys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People wernt too bad but that will change depending on the location, met as many people i diddnt like as i did

    Cons

Management was less than stellar, district manager had little to no idea as to how the shop did work compared to how he wanted it, unrealistic expectations and poor understamding from managers, techs and corporate. Never made what they said i would and often had responsibilitys placed on me that i was in no way qualified for or responsible for (including once disciplining a technician, keep in mind i was 18 and paid minimum wage)

    Advice to Management

Base shop expectations on realistic worm flow not idealized expectated amounts. Its insane to expect a shop in a less than stellar neighborhood to grow 12% anually with less cars coming in every year

I worked at Pep Boys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Access to some shop tools

    Cons

A lot. The flat rate pay requires you to work double time to get hours worked on cars clocked in for 8+ a day if you are full time. Problem is they hired too many new people from R&S Strauss and other places. Too many mechanics and techs and not enough work in the cheap Jersey City area means you end up clearing minimum wage to averaging $12-13 an hour tops. Not enough for a mechanic who is supposed to have hundreds of dollars of tools. You clear more working out of your own backyard.

    Advice to Management

Why overload the bays with mechanics and techs?

I have been working at Pep Boys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

eh though to find any to be honest maybe when slow sit and chill and or if needed to step outside for a call, Smoke, fresh Air, etc. Its layed back until your called over the intercom to go do something "dumb".

    Cons

Under payed tremendously despite having a ASE or NOT pay is in an equation leading to pure enslavement. At least it's honestly being provided on my behalf to help you steer your career and or side job in the correct path.

    Advice to Management

Offer better pay firmly and urgently it's not right the way it's all operated PERIOD!

I worked at Pep Boys (Less than a year)

    Pros

Depending where your located work is always good and easy flow.

    Cons

Direct complaints to you can get your fired instantly. No matter who you are or how long you have been there.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees. Talk about the situation, that goes for corporate too, if your going to step in, do it in a helping manner. If that certain employee is not willing to better his Waze then yes take action but if everybody says that person is a hard worker and is always on time and such, take a moment to identify the cause, and give chances to those who do the company right.
