    Pros

Good pay, of you are not a slacker. You are your own boss. No one breathing down your neck.

    Cons

Not enough days off. You Need to hire someone to run your business when you go away. supermarket employees can be complete jerks to deal with.

    Advice to Management

    Management does a fine job.

I have been working at Pepperidge Farm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is very stable and you have a consistent work schedule. The pay is average to above average depending on what you do. Their benefits are good, 401K, health and dental.

    Cons

This company was the one of the top in the area 20+ years ago when I started. Had many awesome benefits. That is why I started with them. But in the last 8+ years they have become just another run of the mill company. The benefits were stellar and are now average. The have cut out many benefits that they use to have. They do very little in the way of internal development of leaders. They prefer to bring people in from outside instead of training and helping current employees to be better and help the company be better. There is little investment in the larger employee work pool. Even for those who have college degrees. They are looked over for who know what reason. They pay you the same weather you have been at the job one week or 20 years. There has been millions of dollars saved over the years due to some employees efforts and schooling. But there is no pay back. There is little given back to employees that have many years of experience and employees are seen as a commodity and not a resource. It is too bad that things have progressed to this level. There are fewer and fewer long time employees. Especially in the upper management of the plant. They are there to get what they can and leave. No more buy in. To bad. Was a great company to work for at one time.

    Advice to Management

Get away from the worldly outlook of short term gains and invest in the long term future of the company and the employees.

I have been working at Pepperidge Farm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Set your own schedule
    No limit on commissions
    Little interference from management

    Cons

    Poor communication by management
Has become hands off when dealing with issues
Changing commissions to appease larger customers
Hidden charges on drop ship products
    Pallet fees
No reward for non college degrees distributors
Hiring of non qualified managers based on college degree only
No opportunity for distributors to move into management positions

    Advice to Management

Revise your policies for management level positions for distributors.
Qualified people are available with real route skills not a college degree
Most managers couldn’t run a territory much less train a new distributor
If they are qualified enough to represent you daily in a territory they purchased while going through the rigorous application process they can be as valuable at the next level as well. Antiquating thinking on your part

I worked at Pepperidge Farm full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Getting Off early and the breaks.

    Cons

The point system they have the turn over must be high I heard of a 30 year employee pointing out. You start at only 12 and hour after your 90 days it's 15.00. I didn't care much for the point system you get 3 points in 90 days and your fired full time you get 12 points. You forget lock out that's half a point it was hot even after they upgraded the ac system being on your feet all day sucks. I have not done production work in so long back 1998 everyone can get offended easy as well just not my type work environment. You have to have lockers to put your cell phone not cell phones on the floor. You also rotate positions every few hours I didn't care much for everything about this job to many con's for me.

    Advice to Management

Lose the point system treat employee's like adults not kids pay more and you will keep long time employee's.
