I have been working at PepsiCo part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    – Hardworking, friendly people from many different backgrounds
    – Often working in an unsupervised environment
    – Generally very simple work

    Cons

    – Low pay for hourly employees
    – Little to no feedback for part-time employees
    – Monotonous work

    Advice to Management

More feedback and communication with part-time employees. As a part-time detailer, I often felt excluded by not being in contact (sometimes for weeks) with other Frito-Lay employees and often completely clueless when it came to what was going on with weekly changes to store plans. I also would have liked to receive more direct feedback from my manager. Working by yourself for the majority of my first few weeks made learning the job take longer than necessary.

    Pros

MIddle management are nice people. however i now see they get craped on alot.
    Headphones while working
    Work at your pace
If you have no possibility of college education this is the best you can get.

Hired on with the promise that the company hires from within first

    Cons

What they forget to mention is that if your standing in the way of a family member getting the position or somebody whos just been with the company you loose.

The exact reason why i failed to get fail time was that 'i needed more time with the company' I been with frito lay for 7 months part time. plus you know.... 7 years retail experience. i think im qualified to stack chips. i Actually knew the guy who got hired, he had a degree in masonry. and zero retail experience. After that i was showing up to stores with people already working on them. so i had literally no work to do.

Even got the point where my boss stopped giving me a schedule even tho i asked for one.
Every 3 weeks i asked for feedback on how to be better and get the fulltime position i wanted.
I had glimmering reports every time.

But if your not family. you have no chance.

    Advice to Management

recognize the people that actually freaking work. and promote them. not a bunch of idiots who are family and end up quitting the company in 2 weeks.

I have been working at PepsiCo part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work as a merchandiser, part-time. Great pay; manager open to suggestions, good resources online for learning.

    Cons

Very little training in the field; kind of make it up as you go. Work with people who are Route Sales with little communications. Feel like I am left to fend for myself, never know when people are
going on vacation until I show for my shift and very and little product is available during these times.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat part-time people as an after thought. Should be included in all team meetings. Communications from company stop with the Route Sales people, nothing is ever communicated to me about what is going on with the company, new products, etc. good thing I go out to the PepsiCo website and hunt for the information, otherwise I would be in the dark. Give us some kind of shirt that says Frito Lay so we feel as though we are part of the team on the floor when detailing.

I worked at PepsiCo part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flex schedule
    Paid mileage
    Decent pay
Good for a college kid or supplement income.

    Cons

    Hard to advance.
No one ever knows what they are doing. You have almost 0 communication going on. From managers or from your driver. Your schedule will probably change multiple times. You'll never have the same manager long. There's never any meetings about where the company's going or how your doing. You'll get one shirt provided and then you have to buy the rest.

    Advice to Management

You need to get on a better training program and make it so your employees want to work for your company. In my 3 years I worked there I had 1 meeting for the detailers.
