I have been working at Perceptive Software as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Culture is fantastic, pay is amazing, they care about you, not just that you work for them. Unlimited PTO. LITERALLY, so long as your work is up to speed.

    Cons

I haven't really experienced any cons right now. If I do I'll definitely update this.

I have been working at Perceptive Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic technology with ever changing challenges to address with it. Great people and work environment. Opportunity is endless both professionally and financially.

    Cons

The health benefit costs are 3x more than what they were five years ago. Big company infrastructure has occurred over the last few years that impedes the nimble approach needed sometimes.

I have been working at Perceptive Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome people, culture, leadership, product, and vision for the future. We listen to our customers and that's why the software is the best in the ECM industry.

    Cons

Purchased by Lexmark, which is far from a con, but now I fear the C-level leadership that brought the company to where it is may be leaving soon. Please stay Mr. Coons and if that's not in the cards, please have Mr. Knipp fill your spot. Both amazing, incredibly intelligent guys.

    Advice to Management

Please don't let a Lexmark exec take over when Scott retires. No offense to Lexmark, they've been great, but all the leadership we need exists in Lenexa.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Perceptive Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've never witnessed a company culture with so many amazing coworkers. Everyone is invested in each other and the spirit of helpfulness runs deep in every employee, both to each other and to the customers. No one settles for any less than absolute perfection in the product, so the product is at a consistently excellent quality. The unlimited vacation plan, while unconventional, is quite enjoyable, as well.

    Cons

Changing company culture due to Lexmark's influence; employee satisfaction is no longer quite as high a priority in the company as it once was.

    Advice to Management

Despite Lexmark's unconventional employee/manager review policies, I think it's important for Perceptive to reinstate a typical yearly review between an employee and their manager. The company should begin requiring much smaller release windows, as well.

    Cons

commute is long and salary is not as high as it should be for the area.

I have been working at Perceptive Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Perceptive Software offers a great work/life balance, fair wage, good management, and plenty of advancement opportunity. It continues to be one of the best places to work in Kansas City.

    Cons

The culture seems to be melting away little by little ever since being acquired by Lexmark.

    Advice to Management

    Remember where you came from.

    Pros

The overall company culture is relaxed and casual. People are treated as adults unless they give reason not to be.

    Cons

Compensation could be better. There is a bit of a clique-ish mentality in middle management that is somewhat difficult to crack

    Advice to Management

Accelerate the construction of new work space. The building is bursting at the seams. Continue to cut the dead weight that has been holding back some of the departments and let the people who are creative, talented and fantastic at what they do become the next generation of leaders that can take the customer focus of Perceptive and grow it.

    Pros

    Positive environment
    Place for growth and learning
    Competitive pay
    Flex scheduling
Better than the many other places I have worked in my life. I don't understand the hate some people who are no longer here show. Just grow up and move on like I have done with prior employers.

    Cons

My fat butt can't get up speed on the slide. Seriously I really like it here and haven't found a lot of cons. You are learning their program so your skills don't transfer to other places really well.
