      Pros

Consistent, you always know what you are walking in to. But new challenges present themselves everyday so it does keep you sharp in terms of problem solving

      Cons

Long shifts, and frustrating upper management sometimes. Overall if you follow the rules and regulations you will be good, sometimes it just is hard to get decisions made.

      Very different Day to Day

      Pros

The HR team is wonderful. Most of the Shift Leads and Supervisors are easy to get along with and actually care about their employees. The benefits are great.

      Cons

Upper management is terrible. You never know if you have to be on edge all day or can actually breathe and get your job done. Nothing is ever the same, including the rules, from day to day.

      Pros

Good schedule for maintenance, good co-workers, cheap chicken

      Cons

Grossly incompetent upper management, lack of employee appreciation, emphasis on Perdue being more important than anything else in life

      No Support for Managers

      Dec 16, 2015 - Manager

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Still trying to find some

      Cons

If you don't work in Salisbury, you don't count. No support from upper management. If something goes wrong you are scrutinized, if you need help, no one is there. Good old Boy network still in effect. Ethics are very questionable and the favorites get away with unacceptable behaviors. Absolutely NO work/life balance whatsoever.

      Pros

Benefits are decent. Reputable position in the market translates to fairly stable environment.

      Cons

Unprofessionals littered throughout upper management. Management favors brusk and negative leadership creating for a negative and harsh environment. Not focused at employee development.

Job didn't match what I was told in the interview

      Nov 7, 2012 - Team Leader

      Pros

I had good immediate supervisors, and of course you get great discounts on chicken. Pay was good for the industry, and benefits aren't bad either. On-site wellness center.

      Cons

Not a very positive working environment. I was told 50 hours a week in the interview; turned out to be 65+, sometimes upwards of 80. Meetings were regularly scheduled for times that were convenient to day shift supervisors but required night shift to come in several hours early. Upper management (with the exception of the plant manager) was very negative, threatening to fire us on a regular basis. Also, upper management was almost never present on night shift to see what was going on.

I guess it could be worse...

Jul 22, 2012 - Broiler Flock Service Supervisor

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Interesting work at the supervisor level. Great people to work with. Advancement opportunities available to those who have the ability to relocate.

      Cons

Non-existent pay raises. Very little turnover at the management level (fewer opportunities to advance). Company is moving toward a policy of cost cutting in the place of innovation. Tons of upper management (what do all these guys actually do? (except bankrupt another poultry company in the last decade?)
