I worked at Performance Fibers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No pros to this job, other than it's a paycheck. This place was so dysfunctional it's not funny. Don't bother.

    Cons

There was very high turnover. In my one year there there was two CFO's and to Sales Directors. The leadership was downright mean. There is no investment in the business, from IT to office supplies. There was zero work / home life balance. Plus the leadership is unethical. For example, I was responsible for paying out the sales people bonuses and there was blatant manipulation of the numbers, from the plan, the cost of goods sold (impacting margins, which was a component of the payout) to Sales.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone in a leadership role ..... It's that bad.

I worked at Performance Fibers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people to work with on my team and some in other areas. They also have a product that they cannot make fast enough for their customers.

    Cons

This company simply cannot pay its bills in a timely manner. And this is killing it. Multiple vendors and service providers have put us on a " cash up front" basis.

Leadership also makes promises on capital investments that never happen. In fact, major capital assets keep getting sold off to raise funds to operate the business with.

The fear is that the the company is running out of things to sell to raise money to inject into the operations. Once that point is reached the doors will closeZ. The fear of bankruptcy looms.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company to someone who could keep it afloat and running.

I worked at Performance Fibers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work experience; big on Lean concepts; lower management and employees are great to work with; lots of opportunities to improve and make immediate impact

    Cons

No raises in past 8 years and owner is trying to sell; facilities are old; equipment hasn't been maintained in past 8 years thus causing excessive downtime; since ownership is trying to sell they are only fixing what absolutely has to run; pressure to run has resulted in plant manager level and up to make changes in product without informing customers

    Advice to Management

Don't expect a salary increases and if you value integrity to your customer, look elsewhere. Plant in Winnsboro has had 3 Plant Managers in past 2 years.

I worked at Performance Fibers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a job, better than being unemployed

    Cons

It is a job, but not sure how long. They've closed many locations, laid off many employees and taken away benefits. Not many positives besides a paycheck. I was there for almost 3 years and went through 3 CEO changes and at least 3 COO changes. If there's that much change up top, it doesn't look well moving forward.

I worked at Performance Fibers full-time

    Pros

Competitive pay for those entering the company. Low cost healthcare benefits package. 401K fully vested in the first year. Fast paced environment where you will gain a broad range of skills in just about any position you go into.

    Cons

Very few pay increases. No matching of your 401K contributions. Not paying its vendors on time. Poor structure to business processes. Little re-investment into the business.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the cash flow issues by managing inventory and production closely to customer demand. Find a strategic buyer who will use the product within it's operation and be able to invest in the production technologies to be more competitive.

I worked at Performance Fibers full-time

    Pros

Medical benefits were affordable compared to other companies. Corporate offices were new and nice and some very talented people.

    Cons

Company owners reporting expectations are the only focus of this business. Management will find a way to hit a number regardless of the method, broken promises, high turnover, the inability to change, negative culture, lack of timely decisions and communication amongst leaders which results in inefficiencies down the line, lack of opportunity/growth, systems that are very complex and difficult to work with. 401(k) match removed, no bonuses, no formal goal setting, measuring process, mid year or end of year reviews to help drive personal performance and the business forward. No raises or a plan to offer them.

    Advice to Management

Improve the culture dramatically and you will solve the turnover problem and keep the talent within.
