    Pros

Learning a new skill, becoming proficient in fragrances and being able to help others find their perfect scent.

    Cons

Varying schedule. Long hours worked alone because hours were cut drastically. Holidays, aside from a financial standpoint, the demands are physically draining and it wears you thin made my own holiday season miserable.

    Pros

Awesome company. Benefits are great. Room for promotional opportunities ip the store manager but are rare. Upper management is easy to deal with. Great employee discounts.

    Cons

Limited promotional opportunities. To many micromanagers. Sometimes you feel like you have to be available 24 hrs.

    Advice to Management

They should offer Better training for managing people.

I worked at Perfumania Holdings part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great for getting customer service under your belt. Really a job for people who love to work with others. Very competitive. Loved this job.

    Cons

Management seems to break a lot of rules. Promotions seem to be all about who you know and not based on what you know, or performance. District Managers decide your pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they are worth. District Managers have favorites, and it shows. The job itself is great, the unprofessional behavior of upper management.. not so much.

I have been working at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small team, so everyone becomes like family and for a manager it's a lot easier to handle and make schedules. Shipment isn't difficult. Commission and spiffs are the best part about my job! No overwhelming floor moves. I now have an abundance of perfumes. Sometimes when we no longer carry a product instead of throwing away the tester one of us can keep it.

    Cons

Good luck keeping a qualified assistant manager! they don't get paid nearly as much as the store manager and if they are really qualified and great at the position, they know they can get paid more almost anywhere else. Commission is fantastic but only at certain times of the year. oh yeah and THIS COMPANY IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. they are definitely going to continue closing more and more stores. I'm looking for a new job.

    Advice to Management

i've been with the company for over a year and sometimes my DM still doesn't get my name right. that about sums it up.

  9. "Fragrance Consultant"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Perfumania Holdings full-time

    Pros

The ability to learn about many fragrances and fun coworkers, commission and discount on fragrance.

    Cons

Full time workers hours are cut without notice. Its not a stable work environment if you have your rental responsibilities and bills to maintain. Your left scrambling to figure out how to make up for the loss of work hours. It's great for a student living at home who has no bill responsibilities. The other cons are no (fragrance gratis) for all of your hard work and selling.

    Advice to Management

Provide a more stable working environment for staff with a good salary and stable job hours. Be honest before anyone applies that the company cuts job hours.
Be creative and reward your employees from time to time by providing free (fragrance gratis) to show them appreciation for the hard work and energy they put into selling your merchandise.

    Cons

    Advice to Management
