I worked at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

laid back job, good commission incentives, good benefits, small store staff that felt like a family, district/regional managers were great and very supportive, fun environment.

    Cons

poor communication between stores and corporate. the home office would often make blanket decisions that made no sense at the store level. online prices were lower than in store prices but we were told not to match "too much" which caused customer conflicts. corporate will close your store with no notice, despite store's profitability. VERY long hours during holiday season.

    Advice to Management

    listen to your store managers.

I have been working at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Company is open to suggestions, request feedback on all aspects of position from Merchandising to Promotions. Also great support from Home Office to Field.

    Cons

Quite often stores to not receive enough product to achieve sales projections. Also when something is advertised quantities in stores need to be increased.

    Advice to Management

Again, make sure when there is a new promotion that stores receive merchandise in a timely manner and with a strong inventory. You cannot sell what you don't have.

    Pros

A fun job, that offered Original Products, not knock offs. Friendly group of ladies to work with. A great seasonal job to makes extra holiday cash.

    Cons

Probably only a few Career Opportunities if any available. Due to that growth potential is somewhat limited. If you just need part-time or seasonal job it's a fun place to work!

    Advice to Management

Thank you for hiring me for a fun seasonal part-time job. You have a nice group of employees!

I worked at Perfumania Holdings full-time

    Pros

Encourages promoting from within the company for those that qualify. One of few mall retail chains that pays base + commission to all store sales associates without a cap. Above average base pay. Although many retail anchors are struggling to stay afloat with the strength of e-commerce, specialty retail chains like Perfumania can survive if they start righting the ship.

    Cons

Lack of company culture. Disconnect between corporate retail departments and the retail stores, causing avoidable frustration with the sales staff. Resisting the necessities to sync online sales business with retail stores; vast differences in pricing and promotion left both customers and retail associates frustrated resulting in lost revenue. Need to improve upon reliability of support in the field as well as stability, leadership and performance acknowledgement from corporate.

    Advice to Management

"Brick-n-mortar" retail is struggling to survive, but don't forget you're best weapon to stay in business are your dedicated employees. Take care of them and they will take care of you!

I have been working at Perfumania Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I always smell good, I loved my co workers, and I loved satisfying customers. I was able to work on my Spanish speaking skills, and work learn more about the paper work side of jobs.

    Cons

Because perfume is more of a luxury than a need, sometime it is really slow, and making sure everything constantly looks good can be trying at times.
