I worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The employees, quick advancement opportunities, benefits

    Cons

Wage freezes, investors/ corporate is ran by suits behind a desk, bankrupt. Fired me after 11 years, on the phone, for an HR issue, which I made the claim on and took them 3 weeks to investigate. My only witness happened to be on vacation out of country that week.

    Advice to Management

If you make too much money for the dwindling guest counts, starting looking for employment elsewhere or they will fire you for any little thing to bring in someone else who won't drive up the labor percent.

    Cons

No one knows what they are doing the owner talks to you like garbage on 125th street. They don't pay correctly.

    Advice to Management

Owner makes sexual jokes and owner talks to employees like garbage

I have been working at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and the good coworkers who do, do their jobs, are great employees as well as people. Rarely do I go to work, unhappy because I'm always working with good people.

    Cons

Like I said, really bad managers, Bad management system. I'm just an employee but I see it, for example 3 out of 4 of the production leaders don't do their side work before they leave, don't even try and bother helping out, and will snap and maybe walk out in an instant, without knowing why or what happened.

    Advice to Management

Fire all of the current managers and start all over. You've failed to do anything about it as we have said numerous times that these people don't do anything. You've failed to take action. Give your employees a goal to work towards. Maybe a raise after you prove your good at your position, or if you step up and do what others don't. As far as I know, we only get ONE raise a year, which I must say is pathetic.

I worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and flexible hours. Many great employees. Many great food choices. Training programs were well developed.

    Cons

This company owns no real assets and this makes them very unstable if sales dip. Franchise restaurants are great corporate not so much.

I worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, good tips and great customers

    Cons

No benefits and no breaks. Stressful work environment and unrealistic expectations of staff. Treated as a body and not a person. The restaurant culture at Perkins tries to promote good customer service but does not set up their staff to be successful. Limited praise for a job well-done and plenty of negativity.

    Advice to Management

Work with the staff and not against them. Be more hands-on rather than spending time in the office and yelling and screaming at staff does not promote a good work ethic.
