I worked at Pernod Ricard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Convivial working environment and some great people to work with.

Decentralized organization, allowing employees to take initiatives.

Opportunities for job rotation and working in different markets / countries.

    Great brands.

    Cons

In many occasions, there are contradicting messages from senior management between strategy statements and actual decisions.

HR procedures are not always free of subjectivity.

    Work-life balance gets very challenging.

    Advice to Management

Need to enforce the existing HR policies and procedures and ensure that the required check points exist and (most importantly) work

I have been working at Pernod Ricard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company culture still very paternalistic. A large company with still a "family feeling" to it. Good work-life balance. Great industry. Great people that are nice to work with for the most part.

    Cons

Promotions are still based on who you know and the promotions are not very frequent. Most of the GMs are still from finance and lack real marketing experience - which is the real challenge of the company in order to generate internal growth with existing brands. A lot of trial and error in terms of digital and innovation strategy - lack a strong vision for each of the strategic brands.

    Advice to Management

Need a strong CMO from outside the organization as it enters into a new era with Alexandre Ricard as the new CEO. Even if decentralization is a core value, to build truly global passion brands, the company will need to have a stronger vision for its brands. What worked in the past will not necessarily work for the future.

I worked at Pernod Ricard full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Incredible growth opportunities, entrepreneurial spirit, systematic personal development program, impressive benefits, great work environment.

    Cons

It's a very dynamic company, with a lots of acquisitions but also selling companies, brands and business units. You might be doing great in a business unit and will find out that was sold and now you work in a different environment. The top jobs are reserved for French executives (especially in Finance, as CFOs) or to a very small group of individuals.

    Advice to Management

A dynamic company is a delight to work for, but the thinking about loyal employees overseas will be good from time to time when it's time to dispose a company. It's not just the French employees that matter, but the rest of them too. At the end, it's a global company. With Mr. Patrick Ricard (RIP) the company was very supportive of their global employees, not with Mr. Pringuet, it seems like the other way around.

    Pros

HR benefits are excellent. Good healthcare coverage, dental, vision, education reimbursement and 401k,. Additional health benefits for gym as well as wellness seminars. There is an excellent culture. The people are great to work with.

    Cons

As many companies, the experience directly relates to your division. Some areas are very flexible for work life balance while others are not. There are no official work from home policies. Re-organizations are common.
