I have been working at Perry Ellis International full-time

    Pros

A way to get into the fashion industry.

    Cons

You always have to be on top of people since everyone is overworked and understaffed. CEO rules like a dictator and nothing has logic, just something Oscar demanded. No investment into employees at all.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees properly and fairly. So many people are on the ledge, and will and can leave at a moment's notice.

I have been working at Perry Ellis International (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was compensated on the higher end for my position. However this is a double edge sword as I found out how frequent the lay offs at PEI are. The higher the pay, the likelier it is for you to be laid off. A co-worker of mine actually was laid off only 2-3 months after she was hired.

    Cons

I came from a large public corporate with a semi-casual and cultural environment office to Perry Ellis. Least to say, this environment is not for the faint of heart. If you are passionately dedicated to work + office culture (or even care for this 5%), this is not the place for you. Say hello to cube farms, no office windows, and people who come in for a paycheck. I used to describe to my friends "Perry Ellis is essentially the movie Office Space."

In addition, there is terrible morale, vacation time, and benefits here unless if you spent a couple of years here to accrue. That is, if you are not fired by then since PEI turnover/lay offs are as frequent as 2-3 times a year. Just be aware that you are quite dispensable.

Lastly, be prepared to see Oscar Feldenkreis's face everywhere from the streets, to the homepage of your default browser, to a dedicated video of him during your orientation. Quite ominous to the frequent Kim Jung Un faces that are posted everywhere in dedication to their "fearless leader" in N. Korea, no?

All in all, I barely lasted 2 months here. Had to get out because I am someone who lives and breathes the brand, love to collaborate with my co-workers, and believes in office culture. Bye felicia.

    Pros

Most of the worker bees are great. If you get the opportunity to prove yourself, you can go a long way.

    Cons

Management rules by fear and sets unrealistic expectations for goals. Don't expect to make a bonus here- it rarely happens. Moral is terrible and it makes for a stressful working environment.

    Advice to Management

Trust your people. If you here the same complaints about upper management and do nothing about it then shame on you!

I worked at Perry Ellis International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great customers that become regulars, hours not too bad

    Cons

Upper management does not care, Goals that are not reachable and set you up to fail. They can't make up their mind what they want you to do, and change their minds every other day. Always wait till the last minute to things, then want it done that day, plus wait on customers. HR is a complete joke. They are never available when you need them, and IF you hear from them, it is a week later. Face it, two people can't run a company this size. Closing stores left and right and some without any kind of warning. Hard to work at a company when you fear for your job everyday

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the upper management and start over. They are out of touch and have no idea what it is like to be in the trenches. I love Perry, but I give it a year or two before it collapses and folds. Good luck !

I worked at Perry Ellis International (More than a year)

    Pros

Summer Fridays and can't really say much else.

    Cons

Upper management is a mess and it trickles down to everyone else. Zero opportunity to grow in the company. Stagnant management style with people butting heads visible to everyone else in the office.

    Advice to Management

Keep it professional. Lots of eye rolling and attitude amongst the conference table.

    Pros

Good employees discount. Easy jobs. Nice co workers. Plenty time to use your cellular and take care of personal matters!!

    Cons

Employees are not happy. Turn around is huge. Very poor HR dept.(none) . Upper management is awful, they only care about themselves and how not to work and get the credit.
CEO is new and has a terrible personality , He thinks he is God.

    Advice to Management

Look more at the small positions and recognize their work. Sell the company to people that know how to handle a business properly.

    Pros

    Cons

The culture at the company is based upon politics and favoritism, and has absolutely no form of "team" culture. Low pay, terrible management, many layoffs, and no room for growth.

    Advice to Management

    Put your employees first.
