Great company to work for however you are on the road for 12 hours a day.

    Pros

    The overtime pay is nice

    Cons

You are constantly driving from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara and then to San Diego the next day. Although you get paid overtime, being stuck in a van with coworkers is tedious and there isn’t much personal time to yourself. Also you are lifting items in and out of the van including 40 to 50 pound cases of veterinary supplies between six and seven times a day which becomes strenuous on the body.

    Corporate Buy-Out Ruined VIP Petcare

    Pros

Large number of locations - easy to transfer/relocate. Staff in-clinic is wonderful and easy to work with most of the time.

    Cons

I worked for VIP Petcare for 3 years before they were bought out by the large publicly traded company PetIQ. For the first year and a half after the buy out, everything stayed relatively the same with just minor changes. May 2020, in the midst of the global pandemic, they decided to change the location of their headquarters of VIP Petcare and laid off more than 55 long time employees. After this, PetIQ made it every well known that its employees are just vectors for making more money, and the focus of the company shifted from providing Healthcare to animals to trying to make the most money possible. My direct supervisor made it routine to ask me to work off the clock, contact me on scheduled days off, and provided little to no support. Higher up the corporate ladder, things were worse. Benefits are terrible, employee discounts were greatly cut, and staff was overworked and underpaid.
