    Approves of CEO

I have been working at PetPeople full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Share the love of pets with your customers. Enjoy making a difference in pets’ lives.

    Cons

Not fairly compensated for the amount of knowledge you’re required to learn to help customers with their pet needs. You don’t just sell products off the shelf, you get to know customers & their pet needs and help find solutions to their problems.

I have been working at PetPeople full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The pets! Regular customers are pretty good too.

    Cons

Little to know inside promoting. Almost every position is hired out rather promoting from within. Lack of communication from home office can be frustrating at a store level. The sudden shift of “be pushy like a car salesman” vs “be genuine and only recommend a good product for your customer” is disheartening. CEO has had some scandal regarding the Black Lives Matter movement, and she just beat around the bush to acknowledge it. Way too many people in the company know each other from previous jobs, so there’s clear favoritism going on. Company needs to go back to their original values! Compensation is nowhere near what it should be for the amount of work and knowledge that is expected from employees.

I have been working at PetPeople full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent training on animal nutrition, you get to see and play with lots of pets.

    Cons

Physically demanding as they expect you to carry out all customers dog food purchases, anyone above a part time keyholder has far too many job responsibilities while also being expected to follow and "shop with" customers. Too much emphasis is placed on sales now.

    Former Employee - Key Holder

I worked at PetPeople full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get to see dogs and learn a lot about pet products

    Cons

This company is so out of touch with their staff it’s ridiculous!! Half the time when you even reach out to management, they either just listen to you and do nothing to solve the problem or belittle you to make you feel stupid for even bringing it up!! It’s a damn shame!! I’m so sad to see a company I once enjoyed working for not want to improve in any way!!
