    Pros

At my location, everyone gets along without a doubt! Its a never ending learning job and I enjoy it here. I would have to say the people I work with are like family and we watch out for one another. The GM and team leads are very VERY nice and easy to talk to.

    Cons

I think that the people who do work for Petco and know a lot about the animals are getting under paid. I personally think that if you want the hard working and the ones that really know what they are talking about should be getting paid a bit more. Really, they are considered valuable employees that you know YOU want to represent the company. Think about it.

    Advice to Management

I think if you want good hard working employees you should consider paying a bit more to hold on to them longer. As a company it has a good out look to customers with the whole Think adoption first. Also, the fact that we don't sell cats or dogs is great.

    Pros

Its the best place i have ever worked. By working hard and showing how much i care for the animals and my co-workers i have been rewarded with promotion after promotion. In less then a year and a half i worked my way up from bather all the way to A.S.M.. Way to many people cry about not getting paid enough. For a guy with no college education or management experience i would say my pay is well over what they could've paid me! Petco is a great place to work you just have to have passion to work there.

    Cons

    Payroll is the only downside.

    Advice to Management

    give a little on payroll.

    Pros

Lots of improvements and changes for the better in the last three years, including different and much stronger management team.

    Cons

It's retail -- so it's busy and at times frenetic. Some people like that environment; others not so much.

    Advice to Management

The change has been remarkable and is showing. You have the company on the right track. Keep it up.

    Pros

We get to bring our pets to work.
    Great benefits package.
    Green company

    Cons

recent growth has produced many specialists to the point of "pigeon-holing", which has stunted opportunities for growth.
budgeting could be reworked a little. Our dept had record results last year, but was was still a little short of budget.

    Advice to Management

Education compensation, or offer more work related training within petco so that we can find advancement a little more accessible.

    Pros

I get to work with pets all day- what's not to love. Also, my coworkers are actually great people and my boss is really understanding of my school and personal schedule.

    Cons

The money (or lack thereof) is my main complaint- I make minimum wage with no chance for a raise, while associates are eligible for raises.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your grooming employees- we want to do things in the most efficient way, because, well, it benefits us.

    Pros

    Awesome to work with pets
Great discounts for customers and employees
It's always a positive helping fellow pet enthusiasts find their products they desire

    Cons

Hours can be a drag, when it's slow, and you're not really focused, the hours could go by very slow. Managers should be more flexible.

    Advice to Management

Keep the condition of your fish department in better maintenance. This department always needs the most care and expertise. Think about it and you'll realize I am correct. :)
