I worked at Peter A Mayer Advertising (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was a fantastic company to work for with an incredible work environment. I enjoyed every day at work, which isn't always the case at other jobs.

    Cons

The pay isn't as competitive as other advertising agencies in the same tier as Peter Mayer Advertising, so employees were often leaving for better salary opportunities.

    Advice to Management

I don't really have much advice other than to be a little more competitive with the compensation, so that employees will be more inclined to stay, because this company is great.

I have been working at Peter A Mayer Advertising full-time

    Pros

The people are all very nice and it's obvious that their hearts are in the right place. Work/life balance is so-so. You can also bring your dog to work.

    Cons

No overall agency vision, upper management is out of touch, teams are extremely siloed, lack of a standard process makes agency feel extremely unorganized and confusing, employees are given out dated computers and technology, outdated building, work is bland, campaigns are basic.

    Advice to Management

Modernize if you'd like to advance. Replace HR with people who are genuine and not out-of-date to engage employees you want. Invest in people more. Lastly, provide decent coffee or no coffee at all.

    Pros

Great work environment and amazing culture. Very laid back place and great clients.

    Cons

Some clients are too traditional, wish we could do more out-of-the-box concepts and layouts.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, everyone is working for the betterment of the clients. The people are probably the #1 pro.

    Cons

Advancements seems pretty strictly based upon your time invested at the agency. The longer you're there, the more likely you'll be promoted. Also not very many training opportunities, employees often have to seek them out themselves and get it approved.

    Pros

Friendly, fun, flexible work environment. You can bring your dog to work. Everyone is very nice. Benefits package is good. You feel like your employer actually cares about you!

    Cons

The salaries aren't very good, but as far as agencies go, the hours are reasonable. It's somewhat difficult to move up.

    Pros

Employees are creative, supportive, and were eager to help me improve. Culture and morale are excellent. No one who does not want to be, or does not deserve to be, is working there.

    Cons

Interning can be dull at times, but that's anywhere. Competition for jobs at this agency seems stiff.

    Pros

The biggest and best agency in town. Very good benefits and excellent work life balance. The Mayers are very good people and treat everyone very fairly and genuinely care about the people that are working for them.

    Cons

It's New Orleans. There's a dark and sunny side of life. Keep on the sunny side!

    Advice to Management

I really appreciate the personal attention and respect shown to me by upper management. I also respect the way that Josh and Mark treat their father Peter. It's an inspiration to see this in life and in business.
