I have been working at Peter Marino Architect full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to work on amazing projects at the highest level. Opportunity to truly push yourself to meet these expectations, and if you're lucky, exceed them. A diverse and intelligent office in terms of culture, language and age. Office has a great number of experienced staff who elect to stay for 15-20 years, reflecting companies ability to invest in employees.

    Cons

Hours are regimented, not necessarily reflecting your project schedule.

    Advice to Management

More flexible time in lieu of hours worked and more flexible vacation policy.

I worked at Peter Marino Architect full-time

    Pros

You work with a really talented designer.
He's on top of most of the work there.
    Glamorous environment.
Employees from all around the world (and not just China like in other arch firms)

    Cons

With that said, some project managers just do the bare minimum. It seems like they don't care to make mistakes because they know they can ask you to stay late every day or go on the weekends to fix them. You better not refuse or it's your word against theirs. When something goes wrong, they blame it on you. It's very hard to escalate a problem above them. So they're your bosses and the person above them is almost in-existent.

    Advice to Management

Time is valuable for employees too. Make their time worth. Make sure they have work to do in normal office hours and make extra hours an exception.

    Pros

Great name to have on your resume.
Will learn a lot as most of the employees are the best of the best, and super knowledgeable about their specialty.

    Cons

Management is particular about who moves up in the company.
Stressful environment when owner is around.
All employees aren't recognized or spoken too nicely by owner. You might get yelled at.

I worked at Peter Marino Architect full-time

    Pros

Peter Marino is truly a great designer. Salaries may be slightly better than other companies.

    Cons

Middle management spends the day partying while they give you all the stuff to you. Then they blame you for any mistake, and take credit for the good things you've done.
There's fear in employees. Which makes the vibe kind of cold.

    Advice to Management

Protect the talented employee on the bottom form the abuses of middle management. They constantly lie to Peter.

I worked at Peter Marino Architect full-time

    Pros

I got to work on some really cool projects. I made some really good connections with the vendors. Most of the people on the bottom of the chain are great to work with.

    Cons

The pay is awful, work life balance is awful. Management treats you like you are less than. You see Peter in the office but you are invisible to him unless you are management. Most people there are unhappy and its visible.

    Advice to Management

Complete overhaul of management. Learn to treat your employees with respect.

    Pros

You can leave the office at 6:00 p.m.
    Paychecks are direct deposit.
    Peter is accessible, sometimes.
    Projects are plentiful.

    Cons

Senior management lends no support to architects and designers.
    Technology and equipment is antiquated.
Peter is a screamer. If you do not have thick, leather-clad skin, seek work elsewhere.
The office environment is tense, at best.
Bring your American Express-Titanium card to work. The company doesn't issue company credit cards for travel or work-related expenses.
Paid holidays are few. Benefits package is stingy.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate.
