I worked at Peter Pan Seafoods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Has good perks like free room and board, and flight to and from Seattle. Management is reasonable. Without many qualifications, you can make quite a bit of money in a short period of time.

    Cons

It's a lot of physical work with long hours, so you just have to expect that. Fishing is also unpredictable, so some years are better than others.

  5. "Not bad in this industry"

    Pros

High quality product. Employees must be in union. Benefits. Lots of overtime. Short season. Great place to work for student during summer vacation. Few weeks there and out with few grands in the pocket

    Cons

Long working hours. Cold weather conditions. Some accommodation facilities are pretty cramped and uncomfortable. For example room without a window or shower that runs out of hot water.

    Advice to Management

Put more effort to have the same crew come back. Lot of times employees are treated like they there for only one season, careless. And please do something about kitchen- it wasn't build to prepare meal for 400 at a time

I worked at Peter Pan Seafoods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to make a lot of money in a short amount of time as work shifts are often 18 hours. The hours and type of work takes a lot of mental and physical discipline to succeed. Very diverse workforce from all walks of life.

    Cons

Extremely labor intensive work, 18 hour shifts in miserable conditions. If your sick you have to 'suck it up' and get the job done anyway.

    Advice to Management

Try to have more established and set work hours and shifts. It can be difficult as this depends and the amount fish received and the timing of delivery. But a little more clarity and transparency could go a long way.

I worked at Peter Pan Seafoods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great amounts of opportunities to work a lot of hours and make a lot of money, housing and food are paid for with roommates, lots of opportunities to succeed if you work hard. Your money is made through working overtime over a few month period.

    Cons

Very long hours, some 14-18 hour days when the salmon season hits. Little sleep and some harsh weather conditions to work in, especially cold and wet.

    Advice to Management

It's easy to build a good relationship with the leadership in this company as long as you work hard and show that you've got a good head on your shoulders.

Very relaxed. You will get a Starbucks card on your birthday month.

    Cons

Wage is pretty low specially for the office administrator type positions. Very little chance to move up.
