    Pros

Great people who were always more than willing to help, Good level of autonomy to work on your own, plenty of opportunity to do what you want with your career

    Cons

Sometimes a bit of a slower pace, A little bit old fashion (dress code, dull work area, etc.)

    Pros

This company has taken care of me for the time that i have been there. The pay rate is good here.

    Cons

I dislike that the company stongly recommend you complete all of the training you need to complete to become certified. But once you become eligable to go to school to get certified. The processe on going to school slows down.

I have been working at Peterbilt Motors Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people. Comfortable work environment. Lots of opportunity to try different things and get broad experience.

    Cons

Raises are few and far between. Pay is sub-par compared to the industry. Asking for a raise is frowned upon.

Salary compression is alive and well at Peterbilt. Always know that a new hire is likely making more than you.

    Advice to Management

Pay your good employees well. I know that I am paid equal to or less than some of the worst employees in the company, and I have excellent performance reviews. We have been profitable for 75+ years. The new vacation policy was a nice addition but it was the second biggest issue behind poor salaries.

I worked at Peterbilt Motors Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent place for a fresh graduate, many opportunities to advance or move around. If I had gone there right after college I would probably still be there today.

    Cons

Inexcusably undocumented interface for MAINFRAME computer. Little regard by HR for separation of engineering disciplines. This had definitely resulted in electrical designs that are far from optimal or elegant. I was frankly embarrassed by most of the electrical designs. Most mid career electrical engineers that come to Peterbilt leave after they get a thorough look at the designs and the reasons for the design decisions that produced them.

    Advice to Management

Separate the engineering disciplines. An unbiased organization should evaluate the cost of migrating from MAINFRAME computing to a modern solution.

Decent pay and benefits. It's very repetitive so if you like that kind of stuff this is for you. Great place to wear yourself out.

    Cons

Horrible management and equality of work. Very heavy work loads. Location is not the best. People there are very negative.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good benefits and a pension plan. Work force is loyal and great to work with. Plant employees are loyal and incredible.

    Cons

Only 2 weeks of vacation for the 1st 5 years, pay is below market average for exempt employees. Most departments run lean, and you can work as much overtime as you want.

    Advice to Management

Could be a lot of openings in engineering and purchasing with Toyota locating to Frisco, TX.
