Your middle management is the heart of the Company. Be responsible for them and to them.

I worked at Petrotech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good group of young engineers out of college willing to learn.

    Cons

Its pretty much common place for management to just lie about everything in this company. They lie about the travel requirements. They will quote you between 10-25% when its more like 50% travel. They lie to the customers all the time about time frames.

There is absolutely no training. You are basically thrown into the fire with little to no help. There really isn't any upward advancement. The company is a good 'ol boys club. They hire fresh college grads to do all the dirty work and give you a decent monetary offer but what you dont realize is that you will be sent out of state, to the middle of no where place, expected to work 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day a minimum for weeks or months non stop. And they will take your company holidays away if one ends up being the same week you are out of town. You will also be expected to work weekends.

There is a high engineer turnover rate once you realize how bad you are getting screwed. The longest project engineer there was there less than 2 years at the time of this review. The average length is about a year.

Health benefits are basically the minimum required and cost pretty much the same if you were to buy it off the health care website. 401k is pretty subpar, 3% of your salary if you contributed 6%. 2 weeks off after a year of work. 10 company holidays.

The engineer monetary incentive compensation sounds good on paper when offered to you but they budget project money to where you won't ever make any extra compensation even after working 80 hour weeks.

The engineering here is subpar too. Basically, copy and paste a similar job and fix it in the field. Petrotech is the Walmart of control panel manufacturers.

Company does not reinvest in itself. Very very cheap on everything. Gives you ancient equipment to work with out in the field. The building is horrible and you feel like you are in a prison after a while.

    Advice to Management

I dont know where management plans on taking this company. I think they are fine with where they are at. Management doesnt communicate with their employees so it doesnt look like anything is growing or getting better.
