I have been working at Pfizer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice work environment and mostly great work colleagues

    Cons

Expect loyalty but don't return the favor. Seems it depends which department you are in whether there is fair promotions etc.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at your VPs and Director levels and monitor if they are really qualified for those positions. In some departments it seems like there is a lot of favoritism. It will be very harsh to give your many employees less than 100% GPP when you just got a huge tax cut and had a solid year.

I worked at Pfizer as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

An excellent business that makes just about every medicine. Good place to get your start in the pharma industry.

    Cons

Contractors are treated like 2nd class citizens. Layoffs were always possible but I was able to avoid it.

    Advice to Management

My manager did very well, others not so much.

I worked at Pfizer (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Relaxed corporate environment

    Flexible work space

responsibilities given to interns as if they were full employees

    Cons

    Lack of connection with supervisors

Hard to gauge what management was looking for, say one thing mean another, I'm not trying to infer or read minds.

    Advice to Management

Be more direct, converse and engage with interns.

I worked at Pfizer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, beautiful work site. Work/life balance not too bad.

    Cons

When layoffs are happening, very tense and competitive atmosphere. Very impersonal environment, they say that they want a good environment but allow management to use negative techniques to manage people.

    Advice to Management

Employees will go the extra mile for you if you would not micromanage people or use techniques that are negative. You say you want to confront those behaviors but yet allow managers to continue to bully their subordinates and promote favorites at the expense of other employees.

I have been working at Pfizer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health insurance, nice site, incentives to make you more active and health conscious. Great support from several services and technologies to make you work more efficiently

    Cons

Depends on manager, some are people oriented other not. Split design/synthesis. Webex is used frequently. Small cafeteria for such a big site, lack of choice.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing in particular

I have been working at Pfizer full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of smart people work here; we work on some challenging problems and do some good science.

    Cons

Splitting the "thinkers" and the "doers" of the science has created a culture where many lab scientists feel like they are CRO employees - just doing what others tell them to do rather than really doing cool science.

I worked at Pfizer as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was great; some very dedicated employees; purpose of work felt great as it was towards bettering people's lives

    Cons

Hours were ridiculous; in some cases 16 hours in 1 day; job training was non existent. Manager was out of their mind and had no regard for proper QC which cometely went against the purpose of the job and was a nasty person in general. Numerous complaints about this Manager from contractors and employees from 2012 to 2015; upper Management and HR did nothing about it.

    Advice to Management

Don't outsource everything and don't threaten people with having a project completed on time when timelines are imposed that are impossible to meet if you want quality which is so important when you are in the business of developing drugs.
