I worked at Pfizer Limited full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for Pfizer for 25 years, They pay very well and offer very good term and conditions, of employment. I got to travel all over the world and was very sad when I was made redundant.

    Cons

Senior management in head office NY don't care a bit about their staff you are just a number on the payroll to them. The company is run by accountants and Human Resources work exclusively for the management. They are reluctant to employ older employees. Pfizer Sandwich is a shadow of its former self.

    Advice to Management

To be honest NY management are the real problem, in my experience at Sandwich local managers were pretty fair with their staff but it depends very much on which department you work for. If NY management actually adhered to it "Values" especially respect for people it would be a great company,

I worked at Pfizer Limited full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is probably one of the highest in the industry
Perks are good, good share and bonus scheme
    Work-life balance is reasonable
Colleagues on the whole are pleasant and very professional

    Cons

Constant re-organisations and threats of redundancy
    Constant mega-mergers
A annual personal development process exists but often results in a cut and paste from last year
Commercial in New York has too much influence within the company

    Advice to Management

Pfizer has suffered from the fact that it has a shorter term view than a lot of companies on R&D, with strategy often driven by Commercial. Regular re-organisations and mergers distract scientists from doing their work. Commercial have made some very bad calls which has impacted R&D activities. Pfizer needs to have a longer term view on R&D and be more pragmatic. A good drug just keeps on giving.

    Pros

CEO has set good culture and is clear on 4 imperatives. This and the company mission remains stable.

    Cons

Internal reorganisations take place at dizzying rates, and makes people take their focus off their day jobs of getting medicines to market.

I worked at Pfizer Limited full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are some amazing people there and generally they have great products

    Cons

Many people get promotions because of who they are rather than what they can do. There is a lot of favouritism at the middle management level
So much change that you can't actually embed the changes before it all changes again.
They have lost some exceptionally good people

    Advice to Management

Look at what people are doing rather than what they are saying. Promote the right people and hold on to the best.

I have been working at Pfizer Limited full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits package is good. If you get a good manager then it's not a bad place to work at your own level.

    Cons

Too busy changing everything to keep still. Don't value their own people and pass them over for promotion even at the expense of the business. If you're not part to the clique look out! Not interested in promoting or training, despite all the rhetoric. Dare to try? Yeah right.

    Advice to Management

Look after your current people and get the salary and shift pay to where they should be.
