I worked at PharmaNet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for PharmaNet more so before the change to Inventiv so I can more speak to that. PharmaNet was a warm and kind culture. I very much enjoyed the people and my direct team.

    Cons

I left right when management had changed. I missed the old team. Did not stay long enough to be able to comment on the new team.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose what was great about PharmaNet. The management loved the people and it showed.

I worked at PharmaNet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My line managers were always great. I was allowed flex time and summer hours. Home-based position was very nice. I never felt that my job was in jeopardy.

    Cons

The IT issues are unbearable, and the company lacks a usable CTMS. Merit increases are no longer linked to performance. Constant change creates a lot of turn over within project teams.

    Advice to Management

    Resourcing and IT issues

    Pros

Some flexible work hours, opportunity to be innovative

    Cons

Not willing to invest in technology to enhance job requirements. No formal training for job function, I trained staff more than I was ever trained. Benefits could be better.

    Advice to Management

    invest in technology and staff

I have been working at PharmaNet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very few. Benefits were okay, location convenient.

    Cons

Terrible morale. Minimal training, no clear communication from management. Rule by fear and intimidation. Archaic, old-school culture instituted by (deceased) founder is still maintained. Upper management cuts themselves off from lower employees. Territorial infighting between depts. Appeal to HR for resolution of bullying by another employee not addressed correctly (I should have sued). Truly a miserable experience.

    Advice to Management

    Go out of business.

    Pros

In the beginning, PharmaNet was arguably the best CRO to work for - well managed, concern for employees, good compensation.

    Cons

Unrelenting pressure to increase billable hours - expected to give up vacation yet bonuses reduced
    Massive layoffs - insufficient staff

    Advice to Management

Return the focus of the organization to drug development. Reintroduce promotions and career development. Promote a sense of job security.

  10. "No respect or care for their employees"

    Pros

The people that work at PharmaNet are great...outside of management. They care about the job they do and they do their best, outside of all of the obsticles, to get the job done.

    Cons

Outside of the people, everything else was a con. People are expected to work 20 hours a day and every day. They are unable to truly take time off and yet, they are still unappreciated and undervalued.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees. Treat them with respect and dignity and before making changes, consult with the people that do the work. Stop using bandaids and actually fix the problems and before you start acquiring more companies, get your hands around what you already have.
