I worked at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There many not be much room for growth but the managers are willing to give you more duties to help you grow professionally. This helps in the field of higher education. Amazing staff and even more amazing students and faculty!

    Cons

Not much room for growth, depending on the department. I can't really think of many cons. Most people who come work for the company, will stay with them.

    Advice to Management

I can't make any suggestions because most decisions are made by the board. So I'll say keep up the good work.

    Pros

Decent pay for a private school. Great benefits including health, dental, vision, retirement, etc. Steady work loads and lots of downtime.

    Cons

Doesn't take the important things seriously. Seems to have a very lax attitude toward staff and a strong protection for exempt employees.

    Advice to Management

Loyalty to your employees and leadership from the front lines is the only successful way to apprehend the work and will that you expect from your employees.

I have been working at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hours are great. HR is very reasonable and easy to work with. Benefits good. Small campus. Everyone knows everyone. Parking easy and cheap. Walking distance to many stores.

    Cons

Treat their employees horribly. When hourly, no grace period to sign in. Not flexible with employees if they are hourly. Vacation time limited.

    Advice to Management

Participate in management and sensitivity training

I have been working at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work/life balance. PCOM believes in families and will work with their employees and their unique family life situations. There are many employees that have been there for up to 40 years.

    Cons

They do not like change. They would rather not ruffle feathers and work around an employee than to stand up for what's right. There is an old "culture" there that takes some getting used to. Management will tell you about this "culture" and advise you to conform. Because there are so many long standing employees, there isn't much room for growth or advancement to another position.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to new innovative ideas. Salaries need to be reviewed and updated to reflect that of the area.
