I have been working at Philip Morris USA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

No room for growth. They no longer pay much for tuition. $5,000 per year. Even if you have a masters degree you will get passed over. No promotion from within!! They hire many interns but will not give employees that are hourly an opportunity to advance. This is not the job for you if you want to get ahead. The morale is awful and Business Unit Leaders don't do much to communicate necessary business needs. Poor management!! They pay is definitely not worth the stress!!! PMUSA manufacturing is awful. Perhaps if you had a job at Altria Corporate you would enjoy the pay and environment.

    Cons

They take 1 or 2 employees every few years from hourly to become Business Unit Leaders. Hourly employees are not eligible for any other positions. No room for growth no matter what education you receive!! You will be stuck running a machine even if you have a phD. Not a career...strictly a labor job!! Over rated!!!!! It is a declining market so don't plan on retiring from this company!!

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees!! Rotate stagnant BUL's that sit in the office all day or get rid of them. The company hires interns straight out of college to oversee employees that have worked for the company 20 plus years but cannot hire current employees that already embrace the mission and values of the company.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Good benefits, salary, bonus for someone out of college. You also receive company car, paid internet, cell phone, and paid internet.

    Cons

This ship is going down hard. The sinking isn't happening as fast as the Titanic but it's happening! executive management is incompetent pushing out promotional deals and programs that don't work

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics like treating your sales people right. We are the bread and butter that keep this ship going.
