I have been working at Philips (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of training and help from others around you. A great benefits package including a good contribution from the company to the 401(k), a vehicle and opportunities for educational advancement.

    Cons

The company needs to hire more engineers. Engineers need help. They are often stretched beyond their capabilities being called to service more sites than they can handle.

    Advice to Management

Management is doing pretty good but has become too metric centric. One opportunity for improvement would be to better judge FSEs by customer satisfaction rather than how quickly a work order gets closed.

    Pros

They seem quite eager to get me on-board. Offered a HEFTY signing bonus to move to a different city.

    Cons

None so far... I'm just a bit in the dark as to what the day to day will be like. And I'm a bit nervous of what my expectations are, considering how much I was offered.

    Pros

Good 401k match, company car, and schedule can be flexible

    Cons

Low pay. If you're an FEP engineer, you have no chance of making a decent wage. Philips now believes in giving promotions without pay. Company doesn't value its own employees.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on real issues instead of metrics on a spreadsheet.

I have been working at Philips full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Company pays pretty well
-Most fellow employees are good and competent people
-Hours are generally reasonable, at least in Ultrasound Service
-Lots of resources to seek help if you need it

    Cons

-Hard for new employees to be taken seriously, especially if you are young.
-Mentoring is highly informal, and varies greatly from department to department. You will have to do the heavy lifting.
-At the end of the day, you and you alone own your calls. If things go badly for any reason, you will take a hit.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of new blood - if you want to revolutionize parts of the company, you'll need new sets of eyes. After all, the senior managers and technical experts of tomorrow will only be the new guys of today IF you give new people an opportunity. You'll end up with nothing but drones if you don't mentor and even take chances on new people.
