    Pros

Good Benefits - Good Pay Rate - Centrally Located for the area

    Cons

Terrible training - Inside career advancement (they would rather hire outside)

    Advice to Management

Rules are meant to be broken when the situations vary...

    Pros

Nothing good to say about them. I would give them a zero if I could

    Cons

Management string you along with promises of promotions or raises. None of the teams knows what any other teams are doing.

    Advice to Management

Get new managers. They rarely interact outside of their team.

    Pros

Decent pay, good people. I have a 10 minute drive to work. The products we make are awesome and really do help people.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement. Office politics is over the top. We accelerate (fire) dozens of people a year and simply spread the work around. Everyone is doing two peoples jobs. The yearly review process is broken. Everyone in your team is forced ranked and every possible combination has to be filled. We use a 9 block system work completed and attitude are the axis. So if you have 10 people on your team, and everyone does great work 3 people are getting poor reviews.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting your cronies and reward the people who do a good job. Do not force rank when yearly reviews happen.

    Pros

company builds good equipment and has good engineers and manufacturing people and capacity. Some of the best talent regarding innovation and ideas of advanced planning and best practices are in place

    Cons

HR is the bump in the road, the fly in the ointment, the wrinkle in the fabric. Corporate 'guard' tactics used at large prior radio giant by certain mid to upper HR personnel, along with European models just doesn't mix with innovation and non-beaurocracy type of organization. Took all the good parts of a very agile company and turned it into quicksand and cement; ADDED along with hyper-critical non-value, non essential adding of perfunctory processes that lead to nothing. Honestly, there are many good processes that are needed to lend towards a result. But the results that are being achieved at Philips/ Respironics are in spite of themselves. it's truly a case of having one/many process for the sake of to legitimize the headcount of senior HR members vs. things like functional admins instead. Ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

get rid of the dead weight of nonsensical HR characters. They log jam vs facilitate employee performance,/ company performance/ stock performance. All from a few mindsets that NEVER belonged there from day one.

I worked at Philips full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

My tenure was structured as well they provided multiple training opportunities to compete in the field. Great 401k Program.

    Cons

PHILIPS acquires companies and applies their label to increase brand recognition. Witnessed many workforce reductions and no retention because of this business model.

    Advice to Management

Cease limiting an employees ability to transfer to another division so that they may be able to continue providing the dedication and resources that you trained them for.

I worked at Philips full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not too many. Close if you live in Murrysville.

    Cons

Big company attitude. Cuts made at will. Lots of overtime. Really went downhill after Philips took over. Many experienced people have left or are unhappy there.

    Advice to Management

Wake up! This was once a great place to work. The big company culture has taken over and squeezed out all the good things. You need to make it great again. What would Jerry think?
