I worked at Phoenix Home Care full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mission statement stipulates treating staff and patients with dignity, respect. Embraces faith based principals to "do unto others as you would have done to you".
More flexibility of schedule than with clinic or hospital.
Relaxed work pace; lower stress environment.

    Cons

    LONG commutes to/from private homes.
Was promised autonomy with hours to work; later was given hours of availability to chose from.
Was assigned to a home with extreme unsanitary conditions! Had much difficulty being reassigned to another home without meeting some resistance from assignment coordinators.
Some families disregard their contractual agreement with the company which is designed to prevent them from taking advantage of PDN (private duty nurse) for non-patient related duties (example: babysitting siblings of patient while parents step away.)

    Advice to Management

Be more specific with oncoming staff with what to expect re: certain home environments and scheduling hours of work. Offer the PDN the choice of work environment as you do the type of client to be assigned to.
Coordinators, communication is HUGE when sending a nurse into a home. PLEASE forewarn the PDN staff of pets in the home and scheduling changes that affect the routine visits to avoid any conflicts with the PDNs and the family members.

I have been working at Phoenix Home Care full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Your team always has your back, get to help people going through hard times, very very flexible with scheduling and very understanding to taking days off along with emergencies and having to call in, almost always have new clients for different days, hours, and areas for you to pick, I love the extra holiday pay

    Cons

One thing that bothers me is that we can't get to 40 hours steady, it has to be through fill in a because they won't just give you a steady 40 hour week, which can be very stressful, especially as a single parent trying to make ends meet by myself. I also dislike that we have to work at least one weekend a month but hey at least it's only manditory for 1 weekend each month, sometimes some of the scheduling girls need to communicate a little more, and the only other thing I can think of is if you get rude clients or feel uncomfortable being in a certain home and you ask for a new client and a different caregiver for them, I think it should take less than 2 months to be arranged instead of 2.5 almost 3.

    Advice to Management

You guys are doing great!I love working for you more than anywhere else I have gone!! Just maybe a bit more communication between you guys in the office! Thanks for a great 7 months so far Phoenix!

    Pros

Offer benefits but not the greatest. Good experience really not much more

    Cons

Low pay never any raises. Never guaranteed hours and when first hired takes forever to get any clients. Insurance is a very high deductible. Would rather clients go without hours then pay OT.

    Advice to Management

Work on current employees offer bonuses for good work. Get better insurance 13k deduct for yourself and kids and 300 plus a month is not good insurance.
