I have been working at Physicians Regional Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Beautiful hospital thanks to Cleveland Clinic

    Cons

Patients have to know there is very little staff to give you good care because they work on a "grid" meaning working with as little staff as possible. When you ring your light there probably will not be a staff member available to answer it because the one nurse available is busy helping another patient. Unhappy nurses off season unable to pay their bills because they are always being cancelled, however, they still hire agency nurses who have to be paid and cant be cancelled because they are on contract. Take care of your staff first.

    Advice to Management

You don't have the patient's best interest because you don't provide adequate staff to give good care. You are forced to do what corporate wants not what patients need.

    Pros

Wide open, anyone can join. They are always hiring. It's small and poorly organized. Great place to hide out and slide by if one is so inclined to do. It is in your best interests to do as little as possible.

The majority of the core staff, of which there are few, have been there forever. Like since graduation, and therefore know nothing about how the rest of Healthcare actually works. If they need you, then praise is excessive. (Don't fall for it.) But "last man standing" applies.

My advice: get into the "good ole girls club" if you can. Then hide and avoid as much as possible. Keep a journal, even an electronic one. Everything can and will be used against you when politically expedient. They will tell you not to, do it anyway.

    Cons

THEY. ARE. ALWAYS. HIRING. Usually out of desperation. Most of the ICU and PCU staff have been travelers during the rush part of the year. I SEE NO SIGNS OF CHANGE. Even charge nurses are most likely travelers.
Often one gets hired as a manager right out the door. "Welcome! Would you like to be in charge; of, well......everything?" Minimal qualifications, just a, "I have a feeling about this one method." Your best bet to advance? Stay longer. Its kind of a last man standing thing.
Those who do know how to do their job will be driven crazy. They will leave out of desperate frustration. They will be made miserable and driven away.
They will entice you with big money and big promises. Most of these will evaporate in your hands. They will use and discard you in an equally flippant manner.
No one really trusts each other. Worse this may be by design. Don't talk to anyone. Unless you have vetted their reliably well. Like very well. Don't complain to anyone. It will not end well. Their motto is CYA so you must CYA.

    Advice to Management

Nursing Leadership: Stop. Now. Leave. You are a blight upon the world. You embarrass the rest of us.
Corporate: Happy nurses = happy patients. Happy nurses improve the efficiency of use and allocation of resources. This will improve the bottom line.

    Pros

Flexibility (minimal), not much else really

    Cons

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Supportive co-workers and medical staff. Was a floating Medical Assistant which gave me a vast knowledge of many fields of medicine. Doctors were very nice and caring.

    Cons

Too many people in the administrative department managing. Having clinical managers for the RN's, LPN's and MA's that had no clinical medical background.

    Advice to Management

    Educate your management.

    Pros

Great coworkers, Doctors were very respectful, high quality of patient care. Good salary

    Cons

Not so great benefits. Bad management. Things were ok before HMA was sold to CHS. After the change things started to get worse, more than 20 Doctors quoted the company in short period of time.
