Multiple travelers have told me that this is the worst hospital they’ve ever worked for.
Feb 2, 2023 - Registered Nurse, BSN in Naples, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Coworkers are friendly and help each other as much as possible.
Cons
Unsafe staffing ratios (ICU RN’s regularly have 3 ICU patients or 4 unstable stepdown patients, floor nurses have had as many as 9-1 ratio), no PCT’s in the ICU and always short on the floor so Baker Acts often have sitters removed prematurely and patients end up restrained, HR department doesn’t answer their phone nor support their staff. There’s only one ICU MD working during the day who covers 3 different ICU’s, plus a stepdown unit, who is frequently unavailable and regularly leaves one nurse practitioner to cover in their absence - who is overwhelmed and so is not receptive to concerns regarding patient conditions. Hospitalists are friendly but also have a high patient load and so end up missing basic things like restarting home meds, rarely update patients and families, and opt to keep stable patients in the ICU rather than trust the floor nurses due to their patient ratios being so high. Patients are neglected and staff are unhappy and unappreciated, high staff turnover rate. Supplies are outdated and most of the beds are broken, subpar cleanliness.

They offer benefits to both full time and part time employees. The director is about the most decent person you could ever imagine. Work from home is great.
Cons
You have a such a high level of micromanagement that managers should just have to do the work themselves. Every call, every keystroke and every screen is 100% recorded forever. If a patient mentions symptoms such as hiccups or they sneezed last Tuesday, you are required to open the symptom classification list and see if the hiccups or sneezing are listed (those symptoms are obviously not listed). If not, you will be notified during the random check you missed it and penalized. The doctors that you have successfully set up appoints for, you have to open the profile and must be reviewing it before you make an appointment, otherwise they will know. You will be punished for memorizing, they do not trust you. I felt like they completely ignored my experience. The worst part of the job is patients who have to call over and over and over again to get the care they deserve. Most doctors are completely professional and do call, however, there are doctors / nurses who never call patients back. Patients deserve to be called back by someone. Most of the offices will never pick up the phone either. When I worked in another department they ALWAYS picked up the phone. That is an issue because it means they do not want to deal with patients.
